When 2 of the Retropie scene heavy hitters get together you know their combined skillsets are going to produce something awesome… Scoony (legendary Image creator) and Hursty (the retired one of MANY Pi images, graphics, artwork, developments and more!) created this COVID-PROOF true micro sd 16gb image for your Pi3b+..
Vertical Rise by Scoony and Hursty (October 2020, Year of the COVID)
- Arcade only
- Vertical Games only
- 16GB Pi3B+
Background:
In my prior builds I’ve tried to focus on finding games that played well vertically that others hadn’t tried like console games, etc. On this build Hursty wanted a solid vertical arcade only build with all games set at their native aspect ratio
On first boot the splash screen will come up. Then it will reboot and expand the files system. Let it run through the process. Then configure your buttons. If it does not reboot on it’s own after 5 minutes reboot manually
Vertical Rise includes:
- Only 3:4 aspect ratio arcade games. All games set to native aspect ratio
- 3 new vertical themes (by Hursty) – Vertical Rise D (Default), Vertical Rise V, Vertical Rise H
- Updated background music (by Scoony)
- Full screen vertical loading screen (by Hursty)
- Full screen vertical splash (by Hursty), listen at the end 😉
- Theme, splash, and loading screens will be full screen on most monitors
- 16 custom collections for the 3 new themes (by Hursty). Note: DO NOT select more than 7 total folders on Vertical Rise V and Vertical Rise H themes.
- Including Custom Collections, Last Played, All and Favorites folders . Before you change to one of these themes, press Start and go to Game Collection Settings and press A. Then make sure that there are a maximum amount of 7 folders selected between Automatic Game Collections and Custom Game Collections. Vertical Rise D and the other themes included do not have collection folder maximums
- Made to work on an arcade cabinet with sticks only. You only need 4 buttons plus coin and start buttons. If you want turbo buttons, add another button specifically for that and configure it in Retroarch
- Built on Motion Blue 7. Thank you for your great base images David!
- Every game has been tested and works
