The PiPiggies are BACK, and what a re-entrance! This 32gb “NeoPi RPi3 1080p” image, has taken MONTHS of painstaking arranging, sorting, checking and playing, it really has been a build of love, and it shows. (Edit – 29th Sept, just had a anon link submission linking to a 16gb version of this with psx, n64 and arcade removed to fit on 16gb card!)
The image itself is developed for 1080p displays, if you dont have 1080p the bezels and overlays wont work, and it will look shit, so please ensure you have 1080p clarity and size. Like all good images this one boots up and asks you to configure your main controller immediately, it then takes you into a beautiful Emulation Station set up, showing controllers above the system selection, once inside the systems you can get complete games lists, which preview as games covers/posters and then into a video, it looks, quite frankly, Perfect!
All games are running with an overlay and a curvature shader. Some with a general overlay as seen in the video and lots of arcade games have a per-game overlay.
Give a try at CPS Final Fight or Arcade Pacman, In the hunt, and many more!… Have fun exploring the the games list.
The first boot will take a little bit longer because its auto-expanding to final SD card size.
It contains only a few systems:
- Neo Geo (Pre-configured to use UniBIOS)
- CPS1
- CPS2
- CPS3
- Arcade Classics (handpicked selection)
- Sega MegaDrive
- Sega 32x
- Nintendo SNES
- Sony PSX
Loading screens within arcade show the game title logo and boot into a bezel , which changes depending on the system (old consoles on older TV bezel and newer consoles such as Playstation on newer TV Bezels) – we really advise you to check the above video out and skim through (see the “see more” description on YouTube for timing links!).
The PiPiggies never fail to amaze, speaking to the developer this really was a project of love, it has taken months to product and be sure its ready for a v1 release, of which we totally agree it is!
**EDIT** There is now a 16gb version on the internets with N64/PSX and Arcade removed to fit on 16gb card – was submitted by anon via our submit a link form, thank you anyways 😀 – link on the Pi Front Ends Page
