Regular Arcade Punk, Damaso, springs up from time to time with solid built images, hes back again with a version 5 of the Damaso Ultimate build – and is one of the first images to contain the newly ported (and fixed) OpenBOR emulator/engine, Beats of Rage is an open-source 2D customisable video game engine designed by Senile Team and inspired by Sega’s classic Streets of Rage series of beat’em up games. It was initially released as a video game tribute for Streets of Rage 2 with characters from The King of Fighters. A reason for the continuing success of Beats of Rage is the game’s engine that can be customized and it allows for new games to be built within it. The games developed for the Beats of Rage engine are commonly referred to as mods (source), but we call them AWESOME GAMES!
Whilst the playing of games is not as simple as selecting off the main menu (yet) and expecting it to work out the box with your controller, it IS simple, you will need a keyboard to be plugged in, as you will need to set your controller up in the games (see video below) – and you will need to PAUSE > END GAME , before you can press ESC to return to the main menu, but this is no problem, as without a doubt in time, some genius will get something fixed up – but Damaso, being a big fan of anything different, explains :
Like a wrestler, I can’t seem to stay retired. My Ultimate 32gb has been updated to version 5 with its newest addition of the ability to play OpenBOR games. All the OpenBOR games are ready to be played and set-up to be used with an ibuffalo controller. You can connect a keyboard and change the inputs to the controller of your liking in each individual OpenBOR games controls options settings. This image, just like my other pi3 B+ images will not connect to wifi. Sorry I can’t figure out why. Other small changes are in the game list with the addition of more hacks like Tecmo Super Bowl 2019 and NHL 2019. Enjoy! – Damaso
