Hi Bullet,

where to start? Mate, you have plenty of choice here! Are you after pretty with lots of preview vids etc, or a purely functional arcade setup? If you got good specs on your machine you can emulate consoles to ps3 and wii u! I have an old HP business pc with a real basic graphics card and that will do up to N64 just fine and will do Dreamcast for most games without too much lag. It will run Mame (arcade games from 1972 to about 2000) very well. Some of the newer arcade games need a better spec tho.

I really like Hyperspin, and there are options of up to 2 terrabyte in size in the downloads here. I used the Bolt on 256gb setup (in Front Ends/Hyperspin) as a base for my machine. It has a good selection of arcade and console games, and was real easy to set up, (most having already been done for you!).You just downoad and then unzip! It's a pretty front end.

Hyperpie PC is popular at the moment, offering a pretty front end that looks easy to use, but I have no experience of using it.

For a basic arcade only setup then Mame is your friend. In Resouces there is a mame 32 download thats under 700mb and has over 200 classic arcade games on it.

Thanks for your reply, i have a descent spec p.c and should have no issue running things like a wii u emulator, i've heard of some of the programmes you have mentioned and would  appreciate if you would be kind enough, if you have the time to walk me thru it. i have watched a few you tube videos, and tried the links they provided, but either get bogged out in ads or my anti virus goes apeshit. My p.c is  a AMD 8350 " 5.3 ghz 12gb of ripjaw ddr3 ram and a rx 480 4gb, it plays anything i through at it so i shouldn't have any issues that way. i know ill need to get some more hhd space for the future, so i'm limited to about half as gig .at the minute. I really like the idea of the wii u as i loved zelda as a kid and wondered if its possible to emulate that?. Anyway enough rambling and again thank you for taking time to reply, and anymore help or advice will be welcomed.

Many thanks

Hi I do  all my emulation on PC and I prefer Hyperpie 2 PC or Launchbox because they are easier to setup then Hyperspin and if you are new to this I recommend one of those frontends.Only downside is that Launchbox requires a license that you need to buy if you want to use the Bigbox Mode.

You can download this preconfigurded base for Launchbox      https://www.launchbox-app.com/

Huge FULLY LOADED LAUNCHBOX Set Up for PC – Almost 200gb loaded from ColPipes1978

Works out of the box

60 platforms nearly 22000 games

and if you want to add more systems you can easily do it by following the tutorials here by colpipes1978 for each system you want

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX0rCEx0wj9Nxzg4SXasbQA

He also has complete system rom packs that you can download, unzip and just put in the base setup if you join his discord server here:

For the Zelda games from your childhood, you'll need a NES, SNES, N64, Gameboy and Wii emulator to cover most of them. Nearly all of these will be found on the Bolt on Hyperspin, or either of the suggestions made by RetroGamerz. For me (and it may just be due to difference in 32 and 64bit pc) the Hyperspin worked straight out of the box and was actually less hassle than the colpipes Launchbox to get spot on. There are a lot more systems on the colpipes setup though, and helpfully for the noob, he includes a lot of the tools needed for pc eg Runtime, DirectX etc that you don't even know you need, until you google why something isn't working! :)
