Ryan at gameroomsolutions.com here in the USA is great.

His bartop kits are so easy to put together, since they utilize camlocks. This controls and video instructions on his website are spot on too.

Anytime I had a beginners question, he responded via email quickly. Usually within a few hours.

I've bought two bartops from him and will surely buy a few more.

Can confirm, GRS is a good place to shop / buy. I purchased an encoder from these guys, wired it up like the provided instructions, loaded the config files and BOOM! All emulators were configured no more mapping controls!!!

GRS seems to be a good choice for lots of things, but don't build your own cab and expect them to help if you purchase a graphics package, they are very much a stickler to their own cabinet measurements and make it difficult when they send you the PSD files to change it. So my suggestions is that if you are looking to do graphics and a cabinet they are a good source, if you are looking for just graphics check out other sites.

Hi pyrater just wondering with the encoder what did you do with the items in the picture that say ground? Did you manually have to ground them??

Also any chance I could get a copy of the config files?

Ryan is a good dude, he made up Popeye artwork for the NinBartop cab I ordered. He also is holding off on shipping for about a week so he can write a new image for the 3 B+, said he wants to send it out with the most up-to-date hardware.

Side note: The image they made at GRS for the 3 B+ that comes in their Guts pack with the Deluxe Kit is top notch. Volume controls with the joysticks.

Wow,  an arcade machine for every room perhaps? I'm not happy with camlocks when in particleboard. What is the guy using for wood? MDF

or a softwood. I used MDF this tie around but done again, I will use a pine wood for better wet protection.

I swear by this business. I must have emailed Ryan 30 times about stupid questions and he was very gracious. The 32" cabinet was perfect, and the printing they did for me was great. I designed the artwork and he made the files easy to follow. The parts you purchase are legit.

Any of the decent reviews of this company I’ve seen are years old.. sounds like he has fallen off and stopped caring about the business. The support I received was a joke, as he completely ignored me after shipping an incorrect/incomplete order. Never heard from him again, and have spoken with a number of others who said the same. I’d strongly recommend getting a kit elsewhere.

I was pretty stoked to hear all these great reviews of Ryan and his team at GRS… However, my first purchase experience with them has been rough and I’m not happy with it.

Ordered their Arcade Console with my own graphics, sanwa sticks and non-led buttons. Also a trackball in the middle. Pretty neat little kit!

The box arrived and I was excited… Until I realized they forgot to include hardware for building the box, and they didn’t include hardware for mounting the joysticks. Further, I requested ball tops and they sent bat for some reason.

Upon further inspection I noticed chips out of the edges of two on the wooden pieces of the box.

Contacted support by email and then phone (because they didn’t get back to me within a couple biz days) and the first person I spoke with was really friendly and apologetic. She helped me figure out that they also forgot to include the control board too. Seriously?!

I sent pictures and requested the missing parts and replacement of the chipped wood. They agreed to send out the missing hardware and ball tops and control panel, but refused to replace the wood citing the “cost involved” with shipping wood.

Stuff really hit the fan when I was escalated to “the owner” a lady who wouldn’t provide her first name. She was immediately batshit crazy over my request and raised her voice with me within 60 seconds. I’m a pretty cool cucumber, because I work in the customer support field, and had not raised my voice at all up until this point. All of this over a product that cost less than $300? Are you kidding me?

Anyway, based on the reviews I’m reading that aren’t in this forum – It sounds like GRS is either in dire straits or is folding without supervision from Ryan (who appears to have dropped off the business entirely.)

Ryan if you’re reading this: Get that lady who claimed to be the owner some help. She shouldn’t be talking to customers the way she did with me, whether they spent $300 or $3000 dollars. Remember that the little $300 customer might be a wealthy hobby-ist who is dipping their toe into your market, before investing in the expensive end of your inventory. That’s basically what I’m doing, and I’ll be shopping the competition when it comes to the full cabinets and digital pinball machines I’m planning on building next.

At the moment I’m really let down and disappointed in GRS. It’d be nice to hear a genuine sorry at the least.

I know stuff happens, but usually when a person makes an order fulfillment mistake like this, the company provides some sort of mea culpa. GRS had ONE job and screwed it up on the first pass. The time I’ve spent trying to resolve this issue, including being bitched out by some nameless “owner” of the company, has far exceeded the budget I had in mind for this project.
