What I want:
- An Arcade for retrogaming including old shooting games (reason for the CRT)
- Must be able to have (4) arcade player (will start from (2) but will change to (4) later)
- Must be able to use (2) Light gun (hoping for (4))
I will split my project in 3 phase:
- Make everything work on PC (no arcade controller, only guns and standard game controller)
- Build the arcade cabinet, will have to be strong to hold the CRT and will have to be modular(ish), I will start with (2) player arcade controller, possibly spinner and trackball.
- Evolve to (4) player possibly with (4) light guns.
I made some research and found the Aimtrak light guns. However I disliked the WII shooting games system and read about some similar lag issues.
I still own (3) old light guns:
- (1) Guncon 1
- (1) Guncon 2
- (1) Guncon 2 clone (Hip gear)
I did some more research and found out that for the Raspberry Pi there are no driver for the Guncon but there were some for Windows Older version and a specific (personnal) project for Windows 10.
I installed the Windows 10 driver and program.
Status per gun:
- (1) Guncon 1: I ordered an adapter for PS1 to USB (to try to use on PC), will post if able to run with Windows 10 driver.
- (1) Guncon 2: I had to doubled my screen for the aiming to be accurate, but I am now able to shoot at my icons on my CRT!
- (1) Guncon 2 clone (Hipgear): ATM no luck for the HipGear clone.
I downloaded the 1TB.Arcade.and.Console.Renegade, I will try to see if I can setup the Guncon 2. If you have any suggestion or request feel free to post.

Received the PS1 to USB but was unable to test due to lack of time.
I stopped trying to use the 1TB.Arcade.and.Console.Renegade for the moment, want to focus on the light gun calibration
The Guncon 2 works A1 with games that allow calibration like Dreamcast Confidential mission, Sega Golden Gun also works really well.
The issue are coming from games like House of the dead 4 with TeknoParrot… I can't seem to calibrate in test mode. I can get in test mode but I seem to have no control in there, do we need to setup extra controller some where specific for test mode?
Other than that I am still looking into the different cabinet models.
A few questions:
- I read some where that there is a limit of 6 controller. Is that accurate?
- If it is, is it X amount of controller per game or per MAME console?
- Also, would the I-Pac 2 (2 player) or I-Pac 4 (4 player) count has one controller (1 usb wire) or 2 or 4 controller?
Thanks
I am sorry for my spelling, english isn't my first language.
