Greetings for all you guys.
First of all i would like to cheers the guys who build this project (ArcadePunks) for joining some much arcade fans and knowledge about arcade and retro gaming.
So, the story of my arcade project started when i decided to build my own cabinet with the specs that i need. Yes, i could buy one by someone but that was cheating ;). Well, i must say that the one that im going to show has been sold to a big friend of mine and after this, lots of requests for building custom made arcade cabinets. Even one from UK (im from Portugal). Now im building my own website to share the projects and maybe starting sell custom arcades.
Now, talking about the MK1 model, its a tradicional cabinet structure format but i ran agains all the conventions like having a marquee with a backlight, a glass over the screen, coin socket, acrylic game control area, etc. Instead, i build a soundbar with two 20W speakers (which came from a 21" Sony Trinitron TV) and replaced the tradicional marquee with it, build a fully curved screen frame like those old retro TV sets and the game control area is aligned with the tv frame made whit the same material (wood). Also build a comfortable hands rest with leather and foam, the same material that i used to cover lots of parts (like the soundbar frame). To make possible extend the arcade hardware capabilities, i build a steel I/O panel with one hotkey, two knobs, two USB sockets, one headphones socket and 3 LED lights (system, CRT Screen activity, and mains).
Talking about the hardware, im using an overclocked Raspberry Pi 3 with a pi2scart PCB to allow me fully stable without delay 15Khz RGB on my CRT screen. I must say that after finding the right setup for my screen i can assure that is a great plus for guys who prefer the old CRT screens instead of LCD's.
The arcade joysticks are both Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT with a pear shape black tops and octogonal restrictor plates. All the buttons are traditional happ style buttons with a custom spring. The game control encoder is a Xin-mo 2 (works great on both retropie and recalbox).
Also installed a 320GB hard drive for rom and assets storage.
The CRT screen is a 21" Sony Trinitron kv-21lt1e.
Juicing all this stuff is a custom modded ATX PSU.
Talking about software, im using a retropie custom image made buy all the people from pi2scart community. Also made a few tweaks based on the ones that you guys from ArcadePunks share :). For auto resolution setting and screen based on system and rom and screen orientation, i tweaked the runcommand script (shared buy one of the pi2scart head guys) that works pretty well!
I attached 5 pictures of the building process and final product but also this link with a couple more pictures.
Hope you guys like it and maybe order one from me ?
Best regards from Portugal.
