Greetings folks. New to arcade punks but not really new to arcade builds. So far I have pretty much used the Gameex front end in my several builds but  have built a bartop for one of my grand kids. I originally was going to go with a PI build but constantly ran into quirky issues with getting the joystick and buttons to cooperate so I decided to go with a PC front end. I am looking for something that I can hand off to her and not have to deal with constant phone calls about this or that is not working. Basically trying to dummy proof the build. So, now to Coinops…..I see there are numerous add on packs and what appears to be a base build. Am I right to assumed I need the coinops next torrent (155  gigs) first and I can add packs as I see fit later? I am DLing the next file now so I hope so ?

Also, any suggestion on an inexpensive very small PC solution. I have a small NUC but the internal is only about 30 gigs so I have to use a USB drive and would love to find a cheaper single board option like the PI but able to run PC based.

Yes, CoinOPs NEXT has lots on it as you can see on the nfo

And the many add-on packs are literally just that – add ons…

HOWEVER

CoinOps next is not really Arcade Cab in mind, you should be thinking about Arcadia (Arcadia 5 is out and on site soon!) – this is more for arcade cabinets!

coinops next is super easy to learn and manipulate and well worth getting… it was that easy i started making add-ons for it!

as for small sbc's, check out eta prime on youtube… he did a vid about the odroid and a 1060gtx… seems promising.

Thanks for the info. I will take a look at arcadia. I tried the next and it is incredible but lags a bit on that older Minix NUC. I really dont want to fork out the money for a beefier processor so kind of stuck with the NUC I have.

So I took a look at arcadia 4 and it looks really good. That is the way I am going to go now. It runs really good on the mini PC. Any advise with getting my arcade buttons mapped over? I have sanwa joysticks and 2 sets of 6 button controls. P1 and P2. I have the buttons controlled with 2 usb encoders.  One of P1 and 1 for P2. Just looking for advise as mapping buttons and getting them to work right is one area I see to keep having issues with.

Thanks million for the help!

Go for CoinOps Arcadia 5 – its replacement ?
