Hi. Newbie question so hope it's not too obvious

Recently installed and setup CoinOps Next. Saw that my old favourite the ZX Spectrum was missing so I've added that as an option and am currently dropping in a few hundred roms with logos I've found on the net. As any spectrum fans probably know the add in pack is now missing so I'm having to do all this manually.

Not sure I'm up for creating this many video snaps so was wondering if there's a way to have a default one? So for example I have "Chuckie Egg" as a z80 in roms in my ZX Spectrum folder in collections and a png in logos. Could I have something the system plays if no "Chuckie Egg" is found in video? Looked for a setting to do this but came up blank

Obviously I could create a generic vid and call it Chuckie Egg but then I'd need a few hundred identical vids all with different names just to fool the system.

Not sure if it's possible but figured it was worth asking till a proper Spectrum add in pack appears

good question ! i don't think it's possible because i didn't see any of generic video in many packs i've download. But i'm not sure.

anyway you create a zx spectrum pack, but in the "base" coinops pack (160go) a "sinclair zx spectrum" already exist. may be too late but you just need to put a "sinclair zx spectrum.txt" in the collections/main/menu and simply add your roms (z80 extension).

after that use Skrape software to download the cover, logo and video.

you would have to have multiple of the same mp4 file renamed for each game… it maybe worth setting up retroarch for zx spectrum and screen record 20 secs of a few games at a time… then after a while, release a pack to arcade punks so other can appreciate your hard work…

Sharing is caring…

you don’t need to create a video for each game, just use one video and name it default.mp4
retrofe will show that video when no video exists for any game
