OK, here's my situation: I originally planned to just pull what I needed from each pack (if anything) to use in Launchbox. My reason for that is I've read countless posts about LB being better than HS in countless ways, but the further I continue along my line of reasoning the more I'm starting to reconsider.
For example, I planned on using RetroArch as much as possible to cut down on having to constantly reconfigure the controls for each system, but now not only am I questioning if I would have to do that anyway but also the compatibility of the rom file compression formats with RA. For the 3do the standard emu seems to be 4do (which there is a core for in RA as you probably know). However, the 3d0 files I have are in .7z format, which apparently RA doesn't always play so nicely with. Therefore I am faced with converting 200+ files from .7z to .zip format….quite time consuming.
Basically what I'm looking for is an opinion on HS in general….are there any proponents of it here? I think it would be far easier for me to just combine all the packs together at the end on my just-ordered 8tb HD (I was forced to do that anyway as even with cutting out a lot of systems I didn't want/need I wouldn't be able to fit everything I DO want on my 5tb drive), starting it up and hopefully everything would run as it's supposed to. Data is not an issue for me (no caps here), so I'm not adverse to scrapping the entire "kit and kaboodle" as it were in favor of going straight HS, but I would really appreciate some other opinions first. Thanks in advance! ?
