Hi guys, long-time lurker here.
I know this is probably in the wrong section as although I’m using Hyperspin I think this is a MAME problem, but I couldn’t see a relevant section.
I’ve just set up my first MAME system, using Rocket Launcher & Hyperspin. Everything seems to work as it should apart from the button mapping. My 1P/2P & coin buttons are mapped fine, and I’ve mapped two spare buttons to Enter and Escape, but the actual player buttons aren’t doing what they should.
Using Street Fighter 2 as an example, I’ve mapped my player buttons to 123, 456. In game however, 123 work as they should but 4 & 5 replicate the same as 1 & 2, i.e. I end up with 5 punch buttons and one kick. Strangely the player 2 buttons, although mapped the same as P1 in MAME, produce a different outcome.
So I tried the in-game mapping, but that makes no difference. If I exit the game and go back into it, then TAB to enter the settings, the settings have been saved but make no actual difference to the controls. Using Mortal Kombat 3 as a second reference, with my button mapping as mentioned above I end up with four blocks, one kick and one punch, and again changing the mapping for that game makes no difference.
I’m not sure what’s going on to be honest. When mapping the buttons they are all identified, and as individual buttons (i.e. two buttons aren’t sharing the same number/address) so the encoders don’t seem to be the issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Rob
