Hello,
My name is Frank and I have been a fan of Arcade and video game consoles since the early eighties.
I have been a MAME user since the early 2000âs but have been obsessed with the Idea of having my own retro arcade machine.
My Brother in law had a Job quite some time ago servicing arcade machines and as a side he restored and sold dedicated machines.
At that point in time I got the opportunity to help him with a Ms. Pacman machine and it was in my home for a few months while we worked on it.
I loved the Idea of having it in my house and I played it quite often but the size of the machine took up too much space in my smallish home and the fact that it only played one game got a bit boring after a while.
So when it was done being restored it was sold and off it went.
Fast forward about 10 years later and I am finally fulfilling my need to have a retro style machine in the house!!! YAY
I am in the process of building my first machine and it has been a pretty nice project for me.
There has been alot of reserch time and lots of changed decisions but I am finally in a direction towards getting it finished.
How did I get this crazy Idea of building a Machine in my head you may ask???
Well I was innocently watching one of the you tubers I am subscribed to.
The name of the channel is called Techmoan And is dedicated to mostly everything retro electronic.
He was reviewing a product called Pandoras box. It is a console type control panel and I thought âHow friggin cool is that!?â
Next thing you know I was scouring the internet for everything Pandoraâs box and I came across a Jamma box by Pandora with 999 games in it!!
And so the project ensued, I was then looking for cabinets, Controllers, monitors etc. Far to many options and choices to be made.
During my research I stumbled across Gameroomsolutions.com and found the perfect little cabinet kit to build my machine into.
My project as of now is built and functional with the Jamma box and all that is left to do is put graphics and t-moulding on, but wait…. whatâs that you say??? Raspberry pie??? Retro pie??? WTF is that?? my head almost exploded!!!
Arcade and consoles all in one with 10s of thousands of games to choose from!!!????? OK new game plan.
I get a hold of a pie and bluetooth keyboard and start going to town getting it all set up, NOW all that is left to do is graphics T-moulding Rewiring the control panel and basically taking everything out that I just put into it.
Oh well, live and learn I guess right?
It has turned into a pretty expensive little project but in the long run this machine is going to be everything I have ever wanted and more in the realm of retro gaming.
I am putting a Space Invaders themed Graphic and Marquis on the machine with chrome T and all led buttons and color change joystics and underlighting for the ultimate in flash.
After all that has always been the alure for me, Lots of lights, Lots of noise and lots of action!!!
Anyhow I am new here and new to the hobby and hope to have some time to get to know some of you guys on here!!!
All the Best ,
Hemiguy
