I've built a couple of MAME cabs on Windows machines. Just now jumping into Raspberry Pie/ RetroPie. I love Happ controls, but I also love me some cheap LED lit controls from Amazon. Making the two meet – a Cabinet, Roms, Lit arcade controls – I've been at it since 2007 or so, still looking for the perfect solution. I hope I can contribute at some point.

Here is my main Cab. Former NBA Jam cabinet that had been converted to Mortal Combat. Rescued it from a barn, full of rats nests. After 3 cans of Lysol I added Happ Buttons, Joysticks and a few coats of Matte Black (applied with roller). Using Ipac 2, I believe – (older model with PS2 to USB converter cable.) MAME64.exe as emulator and Front end.
Monitor is a 32" Visio TV that fit perfectly.
New T-Molding.
OS: Win 7
Emulator: Mame 64
I cut the new control panel with Pine. DON'T DO THAT. It works great, but is weak and cracks when I engage the CP lockdown mechs.
Try as I might, this pic will show up sideways. My Windows 7 powered cab:

Quote from Jaz808 on July 21, 2018, 8:25 amWelcome Jim, i built a Mame Cab nearly 20 years ago, still working,
Raspberry Pi has me doing it all over again, this time its Bartops, 1-Player, 2-Player and a Vert Pi
Thanks Jaz! This forum is slow. What I'm finding frustrating is configuring controllers on RP builds. I love the ability to press TAB in my MAME only unit to configure buttons/joys for individual games. I'm a fan of Old-School stuff so Asteroids and Defender / Stargate button muscle memory is still with me from the 80's ?
I was going to convert my full-size cab – but I don't think these RP images likes my older (ps2 connector) IPAC.
