Hi All,

New member, long time reader.

I am having trouble getting my 8GB Pi 4 to run this image.

I keep getting this screen.

start4.elf is not compatible This board requires newer software.

curious, have you run any other images on there?

This looks like an error you would get if trying to run a pi3b image on a pi4 …

We have also tried the 128gb Damaso image. We also tried this on another new 4gb Pi 4B.

Any help would be appreciated so we can start gaming.

You need to download the latest retropie and then transfer your roms to the new system.

I had the same problem.
Ordered a new Pi4, 4GB. Got that error with any image I tried to run. Ran updates, still had the problem. Reverted to an older Pi4, 4GB that I had setup for Volumio. Traded them out and Volumio ran fine on the newer, and all images I tried ran fine on the older.
I couldn’t find anyone who really had an answer for the problem. Lots of advice on what to do, but none of it worked for me.

New Pi4 ran:
Raspbian, Twister OS, Volumio just fine.

You’re not alone in that boat, but since switching Pi’s worked for me, I stopped looking. I do come back from time to time to read about what people have done.

If its a fake micro sd , i.e. an 32gb pretending to be 256gb , it will load vanilla builds , no problem, I genuinelly have never had a problem and loaded at least EVERY image ever on Arcade Punks
