Hi, my name is Mike from Ottawa, Canada. I’m new to Arcade Punks. I am retired and living my dream of having a home arcade in my man cave. Back in 2000, I discovered Mame and it re-kindled my love of 70s and 80s arcade video games that I used to play in the arcades back then. I was hooked again. My dream was to have a multi Mame arcade set up in a cabinet for my basement. I had acquired an original Atari Arabian, that I was planning to set up with the Mame front-end but didn’t know how to go about setting it up as a home arcade. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to work on my idea with work and kids taking up all my time and the Arabian cabinet stayed in the garage and deteriorated beyond repair. I’ve regretted it ever since. Fast forward to 2015, and my discovery of Hyperspin, I was amazed at the way it worked and I was hooked again, but this time I was determined to finish my dream. I decided to seek out another arcade cabinet . I found an empty original 1980 Pacman cocktail that I refurbished and installed a jamma 60-1. Next, I bought a home-made Galaga cabinet with the Hyperspin front end with thousands of games. Great system that I still have and play all the time. Next, I added a couple of Pitch and bat pinball machines, a 1963 Midway Slugger and then an empty 1991 Williams Slugfest that I successfully rebuilt with new boards and led lights. Now, with retirement looming, I was determined to find my favourite arcade video game of all time, I found an empty 1983 Nintendo Punch-Out that I refurbished and installed Mame as my front end as a dedicated cabinet with also Nintendo Arm Wrestling in it. Great success !!! At the same time, I was offered an empty Nintendo Vs. Unisystem cabinet that I completely refurbished with a Jamma Pandora’s Box. Every Friday, I descend into my man cave arcade, open up a few brews, have a great time and am living my arcade dream. I have recently discovered CoinOps for PC. Completely blown away by it and its beauty, I’m planning to install it in my Nintendo Vs Unisystem cabinet to replace the Pandora’s box. I have to say, life is grand living my arcade dream.
