Hey all,
My names Daryl, and I'm transitioning from Jamma setups (my current rig is enclosed in an Original 1980's NBA Jam cabinet), to the world of Raspberry Pi Arcades ?
She's been stripped of buttons and joysticks getting ready for my first custom chassis a friend is building me (I should have tomorrow.. it has CUPHOLDERS)
Hardware wise I'll be running the following
– Raspberry Pi 3B+ with 5v / 2.5A power source
– Samsung 32gb EVO Micro SD card
– Sanwa Joysticks and buttons with Zero Delay USB Encoders, with Servostik's attached for 4way / 8 way switching controlled by toggle switch
So far, I haven't been able to get any roms from here to run .. NOOBS boots fine and raspian seems okay, so I must be doing something wrong… I keep getting a lightning sign at the top right, unsure why .. perhaps I need 3A ? To be honest I really have no idea what I'm doing image wise, so probably getting totally the wrong ones .. help ? ?
I've been formatting with SD Card Formatter, and burning the images with win32diskimager
So far ive tried the following –[32gb] 32GB RetroPie 4.2 Image Pi Zero W or Pi 3 â MadLittlePixel, and a couple of others at random … ?
Thanks all ! <3

Lightning Bolt is low power, i run 3amps now on the 3B+, and 2.5amps for the 3B or lower and i don't think MPL 4.2 will work for 3B+ 4.4 is where we are now
3B+ is new only newer images after March 2018 will work if they say for 3B+ or stretch
I have just thrown a build together
My 32GB Build for all those Spare *32g's
Give that a run, Arcade/Console no handhelds and 99.5 boxart
Link is here on the Forum under Pi Front Ends

Hey Jaz808,
Thanks very much, I'll give your build a go, and look into a higher ampage power supply!
Currently downloading it from Mega, getting decent speeds so should be able to boot it up in 15-20 minutes ?
Needless to say, im excited ! I may end up buying two Pi's .. one for the TV/Couch setup, and one for my tallboy for the classic games like pacman/tetris .

Managed to switch off Bezels for arcade games which helps, as it was overlaying onto the games i played!
Is there any way to fix lag ? My girlfriend and I play 'Bloxeed' … and every 10 seconds or so it kind of lags and the music slows, then resumes at normal speed. it really ruins the experience ?

Nice job so far on your Cabinet transformation, i made a Mame Cab nearly 20yrs ago "still working" the kids say (Win98se & Mame32Ui)
What system is 'Bloxeed' on, there should be no lag unless its N64 or Dreamcast on some games but never that much
Maybe the power supply is struggling, eventually it might corrupted the card
How many thing's are plug into the Pi and how have you connected all the buttons and joystick, straight to the gpio pins or via a encoder ?
A wild guess with this 2.5a and 3a is in the USA at 110v 2.5a gives them no problem, but here is Aus at 240v i have to have 3a, and even more if i want to use the NesPi case voltage under run messages all the time. grrr
I have made an update to my first image as it didn't fit on all 32g cards and i needed to fix 2 things
Retropie menu Setup now can be Updated
And saving Config's now should work for All systems in RetroArch (important)
If you have nothing to download, give this one ago soon, not uploaded completely
