I have downloaded it and wrote it to a 256gb card but I keep getting init not found error its brand new card and I just bought the new raspberry pi 3b+   I am new to raspberry pi so I don't know for sure what is wrong , any suggestions would be grateful,

What did you install the image with? etcher or win32diskimager ?

I have been told that I don't have to load  anything else when writing the image,  so I don't know if there is something wrong with my raspberry pi,  is there a quick way t to test the raspberry pi ?
