64gb retropie infinity image – freezes when pressed ESC

64gb retropie infinity image – freezes when pressed ESC after playing games, can't use keyboard or controller, if pressed F4 it gets to terminal but when typed emulationstation it will load and need to configure controller again. so after playing game when tried to exit again same freezing issue. Anyone know the issue ?
