My new main build is the awesome _128GB_VIRTUALMAN V5.0 HYBRID-MEGAMIX GOLD EDITION RETROPIE+ES+ATTRACT.
I absolutely love it and have been able to customize it and make it exactly what I wanted with little problem.
However, I have spent a week trying to get into the MAME controls so I can configure an exit button. I can play games just fine as they were already set up. I tried uninstalling the default MAME emulator that was set for te image and reinstalling but that didn't change anything. I tried 2 different USB keyboards in different slots but that had no effect. The only other idea I have been offered is to reflash the image but that would make me have to restart the entire customization process.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I will try anything. I have only been dabbling for a few months but I can follow directions well if you have an idea.

Offline Yes, this perplexes me as well (sorry).
To exit Mame the default is a simultaneous press of the Start & Select buttons.
I think the answer lies in the Retroarch/Mame settings.

Offline I haven't set mame contols as yet, but for consoles its in RetroArch, once your game starts press your hot key (select for most) and the X ( or square) key depending your your set your controller
Once in RetreoArch menu find Control and just above where you set your A, B buttons in that menu is Save Remap for Game or Console, then back, back through the menu to Resume
Or the other place the set Contols and Options for Mame is Tab on the keyboard or Press in Left Anolog Stick
Within there you set Dip switches, controls, buttons ect
