Hello, i have downloaded the 32gb mad little pixel front end for my raspberry pi 3+ and have formatted my card ( which was working with retropie) i have put the img file on my sd card although it did say not enough room… i have gone to turn the rpi on to only reach the rainbow screen with lightning symbol?? i have a few questions i need help with if someone would be so kind ?

1, the img file ( mad little pixel ) is that emulators/roms etc only or is it raspbian and retropie also ( i get feeling not with getting the rainbow screen)? if it isnt do i need to install raspbian 1st? once installed then do the image or do i need raspbian then retropie then mad little pixel??

2, if i have to redo and know how to with someones help, if the screen comes up saying not enough room on sd card continue anyway how do i solve this? also is there enough room for 32gb front end and raspbian/retropie as well on a 32gb card?

sorry if i have asked in conflicting ways ? its only way i know how to put

A 32gb Image should be able to fit on a 32gb SD card, I say should because there is always room for internal memory to eat up some of the SD memory that you can't erase (I am sure it can be somehow but in general…). Since it's saying there isn't enough space I'd take that at face value. Try to reburn the image, burn a smaller image and add ROM's after you know it's running, or try a new SD card. What software are you using to burn? What size was the previous image?

There's also this you could read over:
https://elinux.org/R-Pi_Troubl…..ash_screen

I am nothing close to an expert; usually, when I run into an image that won't boot, or configure controls, etc., I download a new image and burn that.

lightning symbol usually means not enough power to the raspberry pi

as for the image, is your sd card formatted to fat32 file system? exFat file system won't do
