Hello! I am an extreme noob when it comes to the Pi and Hyperspin. I have only had mine for about a week. I was looking for a good spot to start and this Magazine Madness image seems like just thing to get me started! (This will actually be the 3rd image I have tried, first being stock retro pi then a hyperpi). I am mostly experimenting right now trying to see what I like. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get this to finish booting. I think I flashed it correctly (I used Etcher) and it seems like it is trying to boot… I get the nice retro images and the 'Blow Me' image (which was great!). It seems to get hung up trying to boot ES. I can type in 'emulationstation' to get it to finish booting, then the games and window show and all is good… then it freezes up. I have to hard reset (r2 power) the start over. Each time, I have to remap the controller and each time it freezes after about 5 min. I am working on SSH so I don't have remove power but other than that, I don't know where to go next. Any ideas?

No, not really. I am having issues all over the place. I am sure most of them are because I am new to this and don't know what I am doing. However, the issues are all different. The stock retropie, I couldn't get new consoles to show up in the emulation station, even though there were config options for them. I made sure I had roms loaded and correctly mapped too. With the hyperpie2, it was running SUPER slow. So I googled how to overclock the pie. Turns out, I could only overclock the gpu, not the cpu, but this seemed to help hyperpie2 anyway. Only, it would always boot to terminal and I couldn't get it to boot to emulation station automatically. Also, I had to manually type in 'attract' to get the attract mode to work. I wouldn't load from ES. While trying to update that, the attract mode went black. I could access the config by hitting 'tab' and I could exit, but there was nothing loaded. After regenerating the roms list for a console, the attract mode showed that, but then also died. I am sure that I have messed something up with the udpates, so I am currently reflashing the sd card with 'HyperPie 2 Offical Pi 3 and 3b Plus (2.5.1) image that I got from Arcadepunks. I am all over the place, I know!

Doesnt sound great to be honest…
My first thought is 'iffy' sd card, these are usually the problem 90% of the time.
Try firing up something small and simple such as
https://www.arcadepunks.com/dr…..inicaketv/
See if you get any issues anywhere with that
then something like
https://www.arcadepunks.com/mu…..e-is-here/
You'll see that attract mode on Pi, whereby looks nice, really does push the fuck out of it, when Emulation Station has come such a long way and is sooooo much resource less hungry (and easier to config!)

I really hope it isn't a bad SD card! I have a brand new 256gb samsung card so I would hope that it was good. since it took almost a full day to reflash that hyperpi image, I am going to try that first, without any changes and see how it goes. I do have a second 32gb samsung card that I will try that dragonball z image with though. I really wanted a hyperpi system to replace the hyperspin computer the moving company destroyed, but at this point I will take whatever works!

So an update… I haven't tried the other two images yet because the Hyperpie 2 image seems to be working so far. I have loaded my games to an external hard drive and they are recognized and play! The attract mode is working (mostly) and it isn't super slow or crashing. Now, the only issue I have is the wheel art and most of the marquee art seem to be missing. I set the attract mode display for robospin on all of the displays. I think there may be another setting that I am missing. As far as I can tell, all of the art is in the appropriate files and named the same as the roms. There is a wheel sort of when on the system gallery, but that is it. I attached photos for easy reference…
