I downloaded MLP 256 – Motion Blue version 6 from here:Â https://www.arcadepunks.com/25…..tle-pixel/
I have a Raspberry PI 3 Model B (not B+)
I then bought a 256gb micro sd card ( SanDisk Ultra 256GB microSDXC UHS-I card with Adapter – SDSQUAR-256G-GN6MA ) –psc=1
I tried burning the img file to the card with etcher, and it said verification failed, i tried to boot with it anyway and it sort of loads, but i get some errors during the bootup and it doesn't load the attract menu, it sits at the console after showing the ascii "This is the motion blue version 6 3rd party base image"
So then, I formatted the card with sd card formatter, using overwrite. Then wrote the image with Win32Disk Imager. Same thing.
Then I formatted the card with sd card formatter, using overwrite, and then used the Fat32Format utility to change it to fat 32 per the instructions for #5 here:
https://www.raspberrypi.org/fo…..14#p590662
Then wrote the img to the card again with Win32Disk imager. Same thing.
I'm getting some errors like
File "/home/pi/scripts/shutdown.py" line 18
buttonState1 = GPIO.input(5)
IndentationError: expected an indented block
Another one I'm seeing in the console as it loads, is EXT4-fs errors, descriptor inconsistent: 32768 vs 0 free clusters
I tried doing sudo raspi-config and then going to advanced and expanding the file system, that ran, then I rebooted, it ran fsck and fixed a bunch of empty nodes, and then restarted and im still getting the same kinds of errors.
I've tried this probably 8 times, taking 8 hours to format the card every time and anywhere from 8-20 hours to write the image.  Not sure what else to do here. Is this something I am doing wrong, do I have a bad card (it was brand new), or is something else going on?

Quote from Jaz808 on June 19, 2018, 5:05 pmMy PC can Not Format or Write to Cards bigger than 128gb or i get Errors like you
My Laptop can write to any size card so far, and no errors, So try a different pc or card reader/writer
I don't understand why it would copy well enough to load the image, and allow me to load attract front end or the raspi-config, if it's not writing properly to the SD card? Seems like an improper write would be more all-or-nothing.
I am using :Â
I just setup my old gateway laptop that has a micro sd card reader in it, and I'm going to try to format/write with that and see what happens, will follow up when I get somewhere.
Thanks

I installed all the tools on my laptop, and then I formatted the card with the built in card reader with SD Card formatter, then did a quick format with GUIFormat to Fat32 (This failed multiple times before it worked).
I then tried to write the image to the sd card with Win32Disk Imager, and it made it about 15% before I got the error:
An error occurred when attempting to write data to handle. Error 121 The semaphore timeout period has expired.
Since the image is 250gb and my laptop only has a 100gb HD, I am forced to try to write this image over my network at home. It's possible the failure is related to that, but I have no alternative.
Now if I try to write again in Win32Disk Imager , I get this error:
An error occurred when attempting to write data to handle. Error 23 Data error : cyclic redundancy check.
I tried to reformat the card again after this to give it another go, and I get "Formatting Failed" in SD Card Formatter. At this point, I'm pretty sure I have use Diskpart to fix it.
- Every time I try something and it doesn't work, i have to start over and reformat the card with overwrite, which takes at least half a day for the format alone. Then writing the image takes anywhere from 8-40 hours. Is this normal?
- Sometimes SD Card Formatter won't format, I have to use Diskpart and delete the partititons and create a primary one before SD Card formatter will work
I'm not sure what else to try at this point.

I tried to use DiskPart to clean my SD card and it failed with a CRC error.
I then installed DiskGenius (Used to be called Partition Guru) and ran a verify on the SD card. So far, it's showing nothing but bad sectors. Either the card was DOA when I got it or something I did screwed it up. Guess I'll have to send it back and get a new one.
