PS controller working in all RetroPie games apart from Playstation games – help?

I installed the rick dangerous image for Pi4 and using a PS controller is working fine for all platforms and games apart from PlayStation games.
I made a clean retropie install and the controller worked right out of the box and played a PSgame no problem.
But on the rick dangerous image, the controller does not function in PS games at all… where do I look to fix this?
