The img’s are basically new themed game systems. The idea is you find a design/theme that suits you, then you can delete/change/add what you want to the capacity of the SD Card.

you start with your freshly formatted SD card, install an img, expand the file system, use it as is, you can then connect to it through your network to add more stuff, or reformat and try another img.

There’s plenty of help around, either here, reddit or other online retro forums etc.

You have to burn the image on your MicroSD card. (You may need a MicroSD card reader to plug it into your computer)

  1. For Windows you can use a program called Win32DiskImager
  2. For mac you can use Apple Pi Baker
  3. For Linux you can use dd command or Etcher

If the img is showing as smaller than the card but still does not fit i think you may have a dodgy card.

PS. there is no such thing as a silly question!

Etcher is available for Windows also.

error might be that sd card is formatted to Fat32 file system (as it should be to burn image to it and for it to work), that doesn't support files larger than 4GB and he is trying to simple copy image that is 14GB
