Ok.
I finally got back into this and am testing. Â I don't have Kodi loaded on the Pi, I'm using that awesome SwineApple build from this site.
But I went into command line of Pi and typed in the command to recognize the mouse and it worked, it created characters as I moved it.
So I know that the Pi recognizes it, now I just need to dig in and try what you have laid out above.
