I have been trying to download the above and have been getting various problems.
I have tried using qtorrent and BitTorrent and have changed my setting in the antivirus etc.
Does anybody know how many files are in the full download?. Mine gets to 244 and shows a 214GB total download.
What’s thrown me is I have had disk read errors on two different hard drives.
Any help would be appreciated.

i wouldn’t bother if i was you, i have tried writing the image with raspberry pi imager and balenaEtcher…but only writes onto the sd card has a partition about 6gb for the batocera image and the rest i can’t access within steamdeck i have tried to merge the sd card but i can’t do that with the software i have because its in fat32.
so save your time and wait for a better more stable image

You (almost) always have to expand the additional space on a drive after you flash an image.
Not sure if I’m misunderstanding your post above, but it seems that you expect any free space on the sd card to be pre-configured/available.
Yes; some images are designed to self-expand. But it’s not unusual or difficult to expand the remaining free space, or create a secondary partition if desired.
FWIW; I found this image to work very well when using Balena Etcher in Windows on a 1TB drive (although Etcher did claim an error during the confirmation phase, not unusual for Linux images.)
