having a very hard time.

hey guys im very new to this retro pie using a raspberry pi. ive got as far as getting 4 arcade games to work like, street fighter, metal slug, final fight and just one n64 game. im looking for just one large file to add to my pi that includes a few thousand games looking for mostly arcade games. im great at coding comands i got my pi to boot up without a password and without start up script. what originally threw me off was my n64 game is a single file and my arcade roms are zip files that i added to the correct folder and it worked, i had to find the correct emulator for them to start up but got them working.

question whats the best way to get my retro pie loaded up with a few thousand games

thanks rob

Hey Man

Oh, so you are in luck...

Firstly let me briefly explain what an image is....

IMAGES

An image is a "photograph" of a memory card (or dvd/cd or hard drive - but in this case its of a micro sd card!) - this is a complete snapshot of a FULLY LOADED (I.E. Full of the OS , front end AND the roms) which has been prepped for sharing, so on first boot you would be asked to set your controls etc...

So to re-iterate, its an ALREADY DONE Version of what you are slowly trying to achieve....

SO WHERE DO I FIND THESE IMAGES?

Well, you are sure in the right place, Arcade Punks, possibly, has the biggest collection on the interwebs, look up there ^^^ see that menu? FRONT END DOWNLOADS, go click it !! You'll see Pi Zero Images, Pi Images (includes 3b and 3b+) and you'll even see Pi 4b images! (and there is no real Retropie for that just  yet!) - So if its a pi 3b+ you got then hit up the PI IMAGES page, and then hit that LATEST button so it sorts by latest with the newest at the top..

Now click on NFO (info - geddit? Info-rmation) .... You'll see some info on that particular "image" as well as the size (usually in the title!) - so go ahead, find an image you like the look of and download it via torrent, usenet , direct download (if available) , or, if you are a member then from the members area straight from one of the FTPs - you dont have to be a member to download it via the options on the downloads page!!

Heres some more help...

HOW TO: Extract a Multi .rar archive

You may need this if you download lots of .rar files ^^

HOW TO: Write .img To SD Card

This is the method I use to "burn" the image to micro sd - literally overwrite everything on the card, as the image contains the OS too...

Welcome to easy images with Arcade Punks - Good Luck !!
