Help! Can’t get Wiimote to stay selected as default controller in CoinOps Collections.

I can’t get my Wiimotes to stay selected as default controller in CoinOps Collections. I change the controller type in RetroArch to Real Wiimote, but when I exit the games it reverts back to the emulated Wiimote choice. I have to change it each time I start a Wii game. Any ideas?
