My name is Harley. I have been torrenting, copying, uploading, downloading, unzipping, winraring, fixing, filing, deleteing, upgrading memory, buying TBs and TBs worth or drives 8 then 10 then 22 then 60TB, compiling wheels and wheels within wheels of every single front end program that exists on this website for weeks and weeks.
I have created Next, Next 2, Next 2 Gems, Next 2 Diamond, Collections, Arcadia, Legends, Every other Coinops there is, Core Type, Batocera, and every download that has been posted on this site.
I have installed, and run, and patched, and fixed tested and read hundreds of Read Me and YouTube videos having to do with this concept.
I have gotten as far as seeing a horrible lined image of an arcade game by running the mame.exe file inside the folders and many, many beautiful menu wheels that do absolutely nothing.
I have paid money for download programs, and torrent sites, and web help, and special areas like this one.
No way to get past a black screen.
I don’t understand
Should I give up?

Secondly, lets start from the top…
(try and answer these without emotion)
1- What do you want to achieve?
2- Where would be a first progress marker ?
3- Whats the END result (i.e. do you want to put it down at some point) ?
4- What system are you running image on (Pi, PC?)

HarleyTheDragon@harleythedragonFirst off Ninja I want to say out of all the sites on the net, Arcade Punks has been the best for information so far on how to get into retro gaming. All the other websites have had total jerks to me including the Coinops rooms on Discord.
So thank you for the welcomes and acceptance.
My goal is a nice wheel with as many games as possible, who wouldn’t want that.
I bought 3 Legends machines, a full cabinet, and 2 pucks and I have about 98% operable wheels on each one of those using OneSaUCE and Awesome SaUCE.
The processing power won’t handle game consoles past N64, PS1, or Dreamcast without lagging or locking up, so I moved on to wheels on PC.
I like Next 2 and Collections and I saw your hype on Atarashii on YouTube and it looks interesting but maybe too complex to try and build and I haven’t seen packs out for it advertised.
I met a guy in Discord from England named George about a week ago and he has been the single most helpful person I’ve ever met and I would give him my last meal on Earth for all he has walked me through so far.
If you’re out there George and you’re reading this, you deserve all accolades that can be dealt, duder.
What I’m not getting now is when a console on the menu doesn’t work is there a set of steps you follow to figure out exactly what is needed to finally play the games on that console?
So far I got:
Make sure Direct X is up to date: check
Make sure vcredist are all up to date: check
The retrofe program has many settings and checks for missing files <
I get that there has to be console cores here. Beyond that I’m not sure.Then the RetroArch program has many settings and checks for missing files <---- I got part of this but not enough. Make sure the roms are there. Make sure the art is there and everything matches names. Something about bios….something something….then I’m lost. Thanks in advance Ninja for your help. ~Harley

Ok here is a simple example,
I have the PS3 games menu working fine, then I installed the Lego pack that Gremi set up. When the wheel hits the first logo of those games the whole Collections freezes and I have to control alt del out.
What do I look for there?
Ninja UK@ninjaSorry man, I cant answer all your problems, if you hit a wall at everything you do then something somewhere is up.
So much info, I still cant work out what device or even front end your using
neogeoxsnk@neogeoxsnkfrom my experience software freezing is either a hardware or emulation issue. I personally have not had a emulator freeze on me so i think you have a hardware or driver issue
