Upgrade Batocera on Preloaded Image - Arcade Punks

Is it a bad idea to upgrade Batocera when using a preloaded image? I am using the Arcade Games Raspberry Pi 3b & 4B 128GB image which comes with Batocera v36 and it is prompting me to upgrade to v37.
