Hi Guys, new here and just getting my head around it all. I hope this is the right area to post this
I've joined and am trying to download your amazing front ends directly from download page. Every time I try, on multiple files, I get an error page saying that I'm hotlinking. I've added a screenshot.
Any Ideas?
Thanks guys.

Okay, so I'll be the first to put my hand up as an idiot.
I use Brave browser, I'm a bit funny about my privacy. Brave has a built in torrent downloader, which does not appear to be compatible with Arcade Punks site. Hotlink error.
I fired up Chrome, and the links work just like they're supposed to.

Brave browsers hides "referrals" in other words if the click isn't coming from arcadepunks.com it wont work, referrals hide the source…
ALSO….
OK , So the hot-linking error is when the site thinks you are coming from outside of the website, for example someone sharing on Facebook a direct link to the torrent or file instead of the actual article….
"BUT WAIT, Im on the website and still getting it?" – you cry….
If the download location cannot read your referral as arcadepunks.com it assumes you are from OFF SITE thus, hot linking (linking direct to the file instead of the article/story/post) – some anti-virus, browsers, spyware protection, routers and in some cases ISPs have "referrals automatically turned off"
In your browser there should be a setting to allow refers – with so many browsers, plugins, add-ons and malware/spyware programs, its impossible to say how to "whitelist arcadepunks.com" in every single one… For most people its a plugin they have running on chrome, for some its the type of browser they are using, in extreme cases its a shared internet connection with the refer being switched off in the router on public hotspots (breach much!)
So VISIT THIS WEBSITE and it should tell you , you came from arcadepunks.com (well it will actually say https://www.arcadepunks.com/ar…..ing-error/) , if not then you still haven't sorted your refers out…
Supply more info below , browsers, plugins etc and see if we can help ! – note to check if its not your browser then you could try opening your browser in incognito OR opening a different browser such as Microsoft edge (assuming that not your default!) – you can then decide if its your browser or something else causing the issue….
NOTE: Some older torrents 2018< are also giving the error, these are because these never archived correctly, ask yourself why you are grabbing older stuff there is much better retro older NEW stuff out there (get me??)

Ha, had this same issue and was bugging me, makes sense now. Thanks Ninja for the explanation. I also use Brave and found using Edge (just because it wasn't another download) on my Windows machine seems to work ok. Wish there was a way to setup Brave to have this work correctly, mainly because I always forget, go to click a link then, palm to face, open Edge and copy and paste the address. Ha!

Is there any way to download a torrent if your ISP is blocking referrals? I spent 3 hours last night tring to get a torrent and always get the hotlinking error. I tried 2 pcs at home, one of which is a vanilla Windows 10 build with no anti-virus, browser extentions or anything like that. I also tried installing a chrome extention that was supposed to give me better control over referrals but that also would not work. Tor browser would also not download the file.
At work this morning I tried again and got the same hotlinking page, from chrome, edge and internet exploder (on a diffrent ISP).
The file i'm trying to get is 128GB ALL KILLER NO FILLER EDITION â BUDZ71â [TORRENT]
Thanks
edit: Forgot to mention, the link posted earlier in this thread about checking the referral does indeed show the correct information when I open the page.

I think this is one of the most ridiculous problems the internet has ever thrown at me.
I'm genuinely going through the website, tried chrome, internet explorer and edge on 2 different PC's. none of them let me download.
I want [32GB] RECALBOX RASPBERRY PI3 B+ IMAGE 10800 GAMES RPI 3B+BETA â MiniCakeTV
What do I need to do with firebug to get to the torrent link? cheers!

Right click the torrent link and choose 'Inspect' to see the elements html
Right click the link and choose 'Edit as HTML'
Remove rel="noopener noreferrer" from the end of the link
Click away from the link to get out of edit mode.
Click the X to close the Inspect panel and then left click the torrent link again and it should download
I expect this post will be deleted, I could not find any way to send it as a direct message to you.

Agreed.
I used the Firefox extension DownThemAll and was able to download all torrents on the page. Trying to download any torrent by clicking in Firefox or Chrome with no adblocking did not work. Aside from manually inspecting each download link and editing (in Firefox that is), to remove the restrictions, I could find no other method of downloading these files.
Thanks!

That's the same for me here. Tested with 2 different PCs and 4 different browsers (!), all of them just don't hve an AdBlock plugin and it's not working.
I understand that you don't want to be hotlinked but obviously you system don't work. I suggest you to remove it or to change it because right now, it's almost impossible for many of us to download any of your links.

Sounds like your router has something enabled then…
156,000k + downloads a day , there are 10 people complaining here.

No one seems to have a clue at ArcadePunks or on their Facebook page lol6 Browsers now, 2 PC’s at different locations and cannot download any link anymore, never had a problem until now !
help !
The thing is, everyone on the facebook page, CAN download….. So can the 10k-20k people who download per day and dont bitch about it, its YOUR software in your router/pc turning off referrals, its simple enough to work around…
We have disabled the hotlinking for the time being- but be warned if we see direct links to the torrents/nzbs around the interwebs again we will re-enable it …
