News has it that the Konami are planning to release a slew of new arcade games based on Bomberman called with the first being called “Bombergirl.” Here it is shown in action at the Japan Amusement Expo that ran last weekend.
Bomberman being an absolute favourite here in the Arcade Punks offices, with tournaments happening all the time from 1p against 3 machine or all 4 players human – to say we are looking forward to this is an understatement – especially (as reported below) if the girls are ‘over enhanced!’.
As Bombergirl, not Bomberman, this is an enjoyable new title with new game elements that is not only fun to play, it is also fun to watch.
Based on the block-destroying gameplay of Bomberman, Bombergirl tasks players with destroying the opposing team’s base before the other team in four-versus-four cooperative battles. By adding new game properties such as this, it is not only fun to play, it is also fun to watch. And with the button that pops out at the end, a match of Bombergirl is a sight worth seeing.
By raising strong and cute Bombergirls, you can make use of not only bombs, but various other skills. You can proceed through the match with the upper hand by strategically using skills. Bombergirl will have exciting matches that you can’t take your eyes off until the very end. –Konami
According to Game Rant, Bombergirl is one of two Bomberman titles that will be released this year. Super Bomberman R looks to be closer to the traditional Bomberman formula, and it will also be available for the Nintendo Switch.
“Bombergirl” will require players to train their characters and make them stronger. Later on, they can unlock their character-specific powers that are helpful in destroying the opponent’s base.
There were four characters showcased last week but more are expected to arrive along the game’s development. Of the four known characters, Shiro has the ability to plant multiple bombs, while Momoko has defensive skills by creating blocks. Oren has the speed power-up, while Emera can attack from a distance.
According to reports, the upcoming spin-off game is not exactly for all ages if based on some features of its gameplay. Since the game takes on an anime theme, the characters were reportedly drawn with some skin exposed and large breasts.
No mention of console/PC releases and no release date yet announced.
