Following on from the first public release of CoinOps Legends 2 for the Raspberry Pi 4, version 2 has landed, updated, more games and with FOUR fast themes. Once again thanks to everyone at the CoinOps Project and of course the guys who ported the ‘nix edition over, specifically Andyburn, Bluestang and EliasBlizzard – THANK YOU TO ALL!
NOTE: Original torrent has now been updated to download v2
(NOTE : The video below shows the version 1 edition)
This is TINY in size and should EASILY fit on ANY , real, Micro SD Card, however it is recommended (for performance speeds) to be written to a SSD or NVME – This is a high resource build!
From the Devs:-
Updated!
More games!
Four fast themes!Otherwise the same.
First, if you get stuck, send me a pm on the CoinOPS Discord channel!
Please provide feedback – development is not possible without itCredit
——-
None of this would be possible without the undying efforts of BritneysPairs, Bluestang, EliasBlizzard, andyburn, Phulsof, gjsmsmith, Fnord and many, many others in the CoinOPS project.
YMMV, but please remember this is all free, and written by enthusiasts for the love of the old arcadeCheers,
andyburnISSUES
——-
Only one we found is using a KB for retrofe navigation – a fix will be issued at some point.
Use a controller as mentioned below.Instructions
————
There a few extras in this release so please make sure to read belowFree MD5check, or others will allow to check if the files are complete and uncorrupted.
The MD5 checksum file is called checksum.md5. There is another md5 for the image itself – image.md5
(in Linux, md5sum -c checksum.md5)The img file inside the archive can be written to a 32Gb, or bigger, high quality USB 3.0/3.1 stick with Balena Etcher/Win32DiskImager or from inside a linux distro.
Sandisk Ultra or Pro, Supersonic Rage Elite (not XT!), and SAMSUNG BAR Plus are good.
The faster the better! It can also be written to SSD, or NVME etc. Do not use a SDCard please – you’ll be disppointed!
This is the recommended method. *****I cannot stress this enough!!!*****https://www.balena.io/etcher/
https://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/It has been tested.
NOTE: If you mod it and you break it, no support will be given!IMPORTANT: Make sure the USB port you are using has sufficient power for the device you are using!!
First BOOT
———-
The image will AUTO-EXPAND the partition on first boot to fill the disk.
It will then REBOOT without warning, adn then proceed to start CoinOPS.Sound is over HDMI by default.
You can log in over ssh with user:pi, pass:arcade and run sudo raspi-config to change stuff.Using Controllers
—————–
Use a xinput controller only.
Dinput is not supported.
Has been tested with XBOX360 controller adn Logitech F310
Other controllers may be supported in the future – this is a first release!!
