Many of us fell in love with arcade games not only because they were something new and exciting, but also because of how social it was. Even though one might not have realized it at the time, much of what made going to the arcade so fun was the fact that it was done with friends.
Later in life this more or , and with many of the arcades of the past being no more, this more or less went away. But just because many of us now are adults with responsibilities doesn’t mean that we can’t try to recreate that same magic right now. In the same way it might be fun to gather up your friends to watch a big sporting event or look at champions league predictions today, gathering in a living room with a bunch of different arcade games, some drinks, and good food.
Invite well ahead of time
As anyone who has ever tried to play Dungeons and Dragons will tell you: it’s not difficult to go on grand adventures and kill dragons. It’s hard to schedule. Adult life brings with it responsibilities and tight schedules. Therefore it’s best to tell your friends that you’re thinking about hosting a game night in a group chat, so that you together can come up with a time that works for everyone. This is by far the most effective way of going about this and will ensure that it’s even possible to pull off.
Make a tournament
Even though it might be fun to just sit down and play for a couple of hours, the enjoyment is going to be doubled if there’s some competition involved. Making a tournament with a bracket system will ensure that the competitive juices start flowing. This can be done in any number of ways, but if single player games are more up your alley ranking everyone by how well they score can be a fun way of adding some extra excitement. Organize prizes or a symbolic betting pool to up the stakes even more.
Snacks and drinks
No game night is complete without snacks and drinks. Have everyone bring over some finger food and stock up on chips and drinks. Your party, your choice when it comes to what you want to serve. A cold six pack of beer for everyone can be fun, otherwise regular soda works just as well.
