One of the most anticipated RetroPie projects has finally dropped upon us – Hyperpie V1 from a collective of awesome people over at the Project Hyperpie FaceBook group and official forums.
There are some great scene names on this team, such as David Marti (creator of Motion Blue), Freddy Poli, Reys Santiago (Creator of 128gb Reys Image), Carl Hagstrom, Dwayne Hurst (creator of Hurstys themes), David Wallace, Richard Butler “Retrokenesis,” Steve Sherod, and Corey Brodziak and many others who have come together to build this unique and awesome retropie image. Totally just shy of 55gb uncompressed (47gb compressed) – this is a ROMLESS set-up – You need to add your own roms (using the Hyperlist format).
This is a ground up build, not a reheated image as we like to call some of the others. There are over 100 attract wheels all individually themed by the team. It includes ALL the boxart, wheel art, and video snaps for almost every system Retropie supports. It uses Hyperlist naming convention romlists. Emulation-station has been given a big makeover and includes every system that Attract includes. They have also split up many systems that were tied to the same rom folder. There are a few new more obscure systems that people probably didnt know existed that are now included.
Also integrated is Easy Hax HDD extension script, and with one click, you can add any NTFS USB HDD to your system. No mounting or paths need to be changed. Plug n play! It will make updating the Micro SD a breeze, never worry about having to add roms back to the micro SD.
Now the catch is, no roms are included. We worked with a lot of people like emumovies, and a few Launchbox theme creators, who only agreed to help and supply us art and videos if we do not include roms. We have to keep this image on the up and up, and not step on Retropie Devs toes, or the people who supplied us with art/snaps, etc. The good news is…Its all compatible with hyperspin romsets. and a lot of emulators now can use 7Zip file format.
