With the recent release of the new Star Wars move from Disney – the Star Wars franchise is in overdrive (again!), the fact that this movie carries on from the original movies has brought nostalgia for Star Wars to an all time high – having seen the film I felt strangely UNDERWHELMED , but this is not a film critic website, this website is about Arcade Games, and although I may not have been impressed with the film, there is one thing you can rest assured that impresses me is Star Wars Games, and more importantly Star Wars Arcade Machines.
eBay – a great place to buy shit as a buyer, a great place to sell shit as a seller – a place where one pays way to much money for his/her collectibles but a place we can shop for them as if it were a super market (guess you cant win – huh?), more recently we have noticed arcade cabs (even faulty) selling for better money, this is no doubt due to the teens of yesteryear now being adults, grown ups, fathers (or even grand fathers) wanting to reproduce their arcade years – heck, most of y’all visiting the site are ‘arcade dabblers!’.
Recently CaptainBedderz sold his Original 1983 Star Wars Arcade Machine for £2551.85 – TWO THOUSAND, FIVE HUNDRED AND FIFTY ONE POUNDS AND EIGHTY FIVE PENCE – This for a vintage PCB, CRT and faded graphics and single controller – this is what collecting does to a man, we are actually insane!
Original Atari 1983 Classic Star Wars arcade game. Great condition considering age, ‘fully operational’ it’s ‘breaking my heart’ having to ‘let go’ of this game, my pride and joy for over 10 years.
This game has travelled well, 3 times including the original delivery to me, travels well. Buyer to collect or sort courier.
It leaves me in fully working order, I can’t be held responsible for issues due to delivery.
Reason for sale, due to me relocating, I’ve not had the game in my possession for nearly 2 years, and I can’t see me having space for it for the foreseeable future unfortunately.. I know I’ll probably regret this decision in the long run, but I have to ‘search my feelings’ -CaptainBedderz
Just before Christmas 2015 eBayer s1ndr0me sold his/her Star Wars Trilogy Arcade Machine for a whooping £2050 making someone a VERY happy person for Christmas! His rather vague eBay listing and tiny pictures shockingly got this beaut sold, but one does wonder if it could of sold for more had the eBay listing had some time spent on it ?
Original machine. Working. A few scuffs as you would expect from a machine of this age but still very presentable. I’m unable to get it into test mode but it’s set at £1 per credit/play and it comes with keys. It’s totally playable and could be put directly to public use or would make a great addition to a games room or Star Wars collection. Viewing welcome. Buyer should collect but can arrange a courier at their own risk.
mee-glenn sold his/her Star Wars Classic Upright Cab on eBay back in November 2015 – Mee-Glenn being an obvious arcade trader based upon their other completed listings, so obviously knew their stuff, meaning that the description :-
Working original Star Wars upright arcade cabinet. PCB/AR2 fully Serviced/rebuilt where necessary – WG 6100 has had HV Recapped recently and also the LV2000 mod in the low voltage section has been fitted – All gears/springs in flight yolk replaced/serviced – Main Transformer rebuilt with new fuse holders/caps etc -Heavy duty casters added. …..
is without a doubt one of the best descriptions on these machines to date. This beautiful cabinet was sold for £2422.22 Yes, nearly TWO AND A HALF GRAND!
and finally….
You are obviously here as you have a few grand sat burning a whole in your pocket, so if you are in the market for an arcade machine – why not consider one of the following.
Star Wars Pod Racer Arcade Machine – this 2 player machine is a beast, unfortunately the only one we can find on eBay is this beauty priced at just under three grand from eBay seller peynton7 who has a HUGE collection of arcade machines for sale, but looking at his prices he has priced himself out the market on most of his other stock. Anyways nonetheless, with 3k burning a whole you could have this gorgeous set up:-
last but not least our very own Arcade Punk, Ninja-UK, has a gorgeous collectible fully converted SEGA MEGA-TECH on eBay (as blogged about here) , with an asking on eBay price of £1250 (although we have seen this privately advertised for £925-950) which contains absolutely LOADS of games, including a pile of Star Wars classics!
This started off as a standard Mega-Tech, however the hardware developed a irreparable fault (the motherboard) so it lay in my shed for a couple of years, it has recently undergone a HUGE OVERHAUL, and now contains a blistering fast PC internal system with a GOOD SELECTION of retro gaming consoles now built in , gone is the Mega Drive technology and a choice of 8 games, now is a choice of ATARI 2600, ATARI JAGUAR, SEGA MASTER SYSTEM, SEGA MEGADRIVE, SUPER NINTENDO, NES (NINTENDO) , PANASONIC 3D0, SONY PSP , SONY PSP (MINIS) , SONY PLAYSTATION, SEGA DREAMCAST and NINTENDO 64 , now there is a choice of over a THOUSAND GAMES (I havent actually counted but this is what I am led to believe).
I WASTE SO MUCH TIME PLAYING THIS!! Its made me late for work, its made me late to bed, its made me ‘forget’ to do my housework, I almost feel sorry for my children as I could end up neglecting them!! Everytime I switch it on, I find another cool game to play, there is SO MUCH CHOICE, YOU WILL NEVER TIRE!! – weston-super-mare_traders
So would you buy one at those prices – even if you had the money spare?
