GCE Vectrex pack complete with Themes system, all videos, wheel, art Box and Full Set Roms The Vectrex was an 8-bit video game console, 2nd generation, launched in 1982 by General Consumer Electric (CGE) which subsequently was acquired by Milton Bradley Company. The Vectrex, which used the Motorola MC68A09 processor, was the only video game that had employed and vector graphics in its pre-integrated monitor the console to which it was possible to connect up to two controllers. Its launch price in November 1982 was $ 199. The first units had a manufacturing defect: a disturbing noise emitted by the internal speaker at the same time, interfered in the generated graphics on the screen. Such a problem, however, was corrected in later models. Unlike other game consoles that were directly connected to ordinary TV sets, the Vectrex had its own monitor, which featured vector graphics. The Vectrex monitor screen was monochrome and, as a result, filters are used especially designed to give the user the illusion of colors, in addition to reducing the effects "flicker" generated by the monitor. Like most of the most popular games used vector graphics, GCE came to cast separately game versions with high quality graphics such as Space Wars and Armor Attack. The only two peripherals available for the Vectrex, along with the controlling, containing analog joysticks, were the Wand and the 3D imager. As the video game market declined sharply, the Vectrex exited the market early in 1984. In 1988, Smith Engineering has come to design a handheld version of the Vectrex, despite the great risk represented by small and popular Game Boy, Nintendo. In mid-1990, Smith Engineering has released the reproduction of the Vectrex system image and its cartridges for non-commercial uses, in order to maintain living communities of users and developers (the most important of these is the Home Brew). In fact, even today there are new games for this console, and many others are still under development. Also, new devices have emerged, such as VecVox (a voice synthesizer). .
