Whilst technically the “MiSTer ” is not a SBC (Single Board Computer) (or a console in the traditional sense). It is actually a platform designed for retro gaming and emulation, we have it in our SBC section of the website as quite frankly we dont have a “platform” section ;)
The MiSTer project uses a Terasic DE10-Nano FPGA development board as its core component. FPGA stands for Field-Programmable Gate Array, which allows for hardware-level emulation of various classic gaming consoles and computer systems.
MiSTer can replicate the behaviour of a wide range of vintage hardware, including consoles like the NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, and arcade machines, as well as classic computer systems like the Commodore 64 and Amiga. It’s a hobbyist project that aims to provide a highly accurate and authentic retro gaming experience, often with support for various peripherals and add-ons.
Here you will find premade images for this awesome little unit – whilst we at Arcade Punks agree this is a truly amazing “hobbyist” unit with a huge community of awesome people, we wont be doing much other than sharing some pre-made images, this is a few steps up in the tech department of where we like to go!
