Part 8 is the monster arcade drop. This is the add-on that takes the 12TB Kinhank build into full arcade archive territory, landing at around 600GB of MAME content. If you want that proper “walk into an arcade and everything is there” feeling, this is the pack that delivers it.
This add-on is based around a modern MAME set (0.228 era), focused on playability and broad arcade coverage. The goal here is not to chase obscure preservation-only dumps, but to deliver a massive, usable arcade library that actually works well on real setups, cabinets, and PCs.
This is not a tiny best-of set and it is not a messy ROM dump either. Part 8 is built to massively expand the arcade side of the build while staying organised and enjoyable to browse. It is designed for discovery as much as it is for quick favourites.
From Part 7 onwards the project moves fully into system-specific expansions, and Part 8 stays true to that approach. This is a dedicated MAME arcade pack that drops cleanly into the existing structure and gives arcade gaming the scale it deserves.
Arcade Systems and Hardware Covered
Part 8 goes far beyond basic early arcade boards. This MAME add-on covers a wide spread of arcade systems, manufacturers, and generations, making it one of the most complete arcade expansions in the entire build.
You will find support for classic and modern arcade hardware including:
- Early classic and golden-age arcade boards
- Capcom CPS, CPS2 and CPS3 systems
- SNK and Neo Geo arcade hardware
- Sega Model 2 and Model 3
- Sega Naomi and Naomi 2
- Sega Triforce
- Late-era arcade racing and lightgun platforms
- Rhythm and music game cabinets
- Japanese-only and region-specific arcade boards
This broad hardware coverage is what allows Part 8 to sit comfortably alongside earlier specialist packs, bridging classic arcade history with late-generation coin-op experiences.
Top Games You Will Actually Care About
I know what people ask first with a MAME add-on. They want to know if the real headline arcade titles are included. The answer is yes, and Part 8 delivers a serious line-up of cabinet legends that instantly justify both the size and the install.
Racing and driving games are a major highlight. You get arcade staples like OutRun, OutRun 2, OutRun 2 SP and OutRun 2 Special Tours, alongside iconic racers such as Daytona USA and the full Initial D series. These are the machines that dominated arcade floors for years.
Lightgun and action fans are equally well served. Heavy hitters like Time Crisis, Time Crisis 3 and Time Crisis 4 are all present, alongside The House of the Dead 3 and The House of the Dead 4. If you ever queued up in front of a lightgun cab, these titles will feel instantly familiar.
- OutRun, OutRun 2, OutRun 2 SP, OutRun 2 Special Tours
- Daytona USA
- Initial D series
- Time Crisis, Time Crisis 3, Time Crisis 4
- The House of the Dead 3, The House of the Dead 4
- Virtua Fighter 4, Virtua Fighter 4 Evo, Virtua Fighter 4 Final Tuned
- Soul Calibur II and Soul Calibur III
- Street Fighter III series
- Marvel vs Capcom 2
- Ikaruga
- Raiden III and Raiden IV
- Crazy Taxi High Roller
- After Burner Climax
- Gauntlet Dark Legacy
- Power Stone 2
Beyond the obvious blockbusters, this pack is packed with rhythm games, shooters, fighters, experimental cabinets, and late-era arcade oddities. It is the kind of collection where you install it for the classics and stay for the deep cuts.
Why This MAME Pack SMASHES!
MAME collections usually fall into one of two traps. They are either too small to matter or so chaotic they become unusable. Part 8 avoids both. It is large enough to feel like a genuine arcade archive, but structured enough that you can still find what you want without scrolling endlessly.
This pack also complements the specialist system releases perfectly. Arcade-perfect home ports from the Dreamcast pack now sit alongside their original coin-op counterparts, making the whole 12TB build feel like a single, connected arcade ecosystem rather than a collection of random folders.
If arcade gaming is the heartbeat of your setup, Part 8 is the add-on that pushes it to full power.
Install Notes
Installation follows the same simple method as previous add-ons. Extract the Part 8 archive and copy the MAME folders into your existing build directory, allowing folders to merge when prompted. No existing content from earlier parts is overwritten.
Because of the size of this pack, allow extra time for copying and initial frontend scanning. Once it has settled, scraping and indexing will take longer than earlier parts, but the end result is a fully realised arcade library ready for long-term use.
Once installed, give yourself time to browse properly. This is one of those add-ons where you will keep finding new favourites weeks later.
A Milestone Release
Part 8 is a major milestone for the 12TB Kinhank project. With Dreamcast now available and MAME expanded at this scale, the build crosses the line from impressive to genuinely archival.
If you care about arcade history, this add-on is not optional. Install it, let it settle, and start digging. Part 8 is the kind of pack that will keep paying you back for years.
