MarkyMarc is back at it again with his brand-new 2025 Hyperspin Nvidia Shield build – a fully overhauled upgrade to last year’s legendary release. This revamped beast is not just an update… it’s a whole new vibe, built from scratch with the latest Hyperspin artwork, added systems, fully updated ROM sets, and refined for smoother performance on your Shield.

After merging the best bits of the original “128GB Chippos Pack” and “Bandits No-Clutter Collection,” MarkyMarc went above and beyond – adding missing consoles, cleaning up BIOS paths, improving overlays, and polishing every visual detail. The result? A sleek, powerful and user-friendly 500GB masterpiece that runs beautifully on the Nvidia Shield.

Whether you’re new to Hyperspin or upgrading from last year’s build, this is the one you’ve been waiting for.

🧩 Step-by-Step Setup Guide

⚠️ This guide assumes you’re using an Nvidia Shield Pro with Android 11. Please ensure all older Hyperspin files are removed before installing.

📂 Unzip the Hyperspin Folder:

Extract the folder to the root of a USB drive. (e.g., unzip to a 4TB SSD then transfer to a 512GB flash drive).

🔌 Plug and Install:

Insert the USB into your NVIDIA Shield. Uninstall previous versions of Hyperspin and Retroarch first.

📲 Install Applications:

Use X-Plore File Manager from the Play Store to install the following APKs from the Hyperspin APK folder:

  • Dolphin
  • Hyperspin
  • RetroArch
  • Drastic DS Emulator
  • AetherSX2

Install M64Plus FZ Emulator from the Play Store to play N64 games.

📁 Extra Media Folder:

Explore the “INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS & EXTRA MEDIA” folder. It includes:

  • Text swap options (e.g. English to Spanish)
  • Extra game videos and artwork
  • INTERNAL folder with RetroArch overlays and configs

Copy the contents of the INTERNAL folder to the corresponding RetroArch folders on your Shield (best via Wi-Fi network).

🖼️ Overlay Folder Includes:

  • GameBezels for Arcade, Intellivision, MasterSystem, ScummVM, and Vectrex
  • Console-themed bezels auto-configured by system

INITIAL SETUP:

1️⃣ Launch the Dolphin APK:

Accept all permissions.

🛠️ Dolphin Configuration (From Bandit):

  • Set forced clock speed to 65% in general settings
  • Enable all checkboxes
  • Enable Vulkan graphics
  • Turn on all hacks (except Immediate XFB)

These settings are ideal for games like Soul Calibur II. For Simpsons Hit and Run, use a slightly lower clock speed.

2️⃣ Launch the RetroArch APK:

  • Allow disk access
  • Install all cores
  • Configure your controller (Nvidia Shield/Bluetooth)
  • Follow KelleyTech’s video for best core picks

3️⃣ Set the BIOS Folder:

  • Go to: Settings → Directory → System/BIOS
  • Select USB → Hyperspin/Emulators/BIOS
  • Click “USE THIS DIRECTORY”
  • Then: Main Menu → Configuration File → Save Current Configuration

✅ Your Setup is Now Ready!

🎯 Atari ST (HatariB Core) – Manual Install:

  • Navigate to “Install Instructions & Extra Media” → internal/RetroArch/downloads
  • Copy hatarib_libretro.so to the same path on your Shield
  • Open RetroArch → Load Core → Install or Restore a Core → Select the core
  • You’re now ready to load ST ROMs in Hyperspin!

🎮 Hotkey Setup (Highly Recommended):

  • Right Joy Click = Enable Hotkeys
  • Left Joy Click = Menu
  • Back Button = Exit
  • L/R Bumpers = Load/Save State
  • L/R Triggers = Rewind / Fast Forward
  • D-Pad Up/Down = Volume +/-
  • D-Pad Left/Right = Savestate -/+

🕹️ Controller Tips:

Make sure to configure controls in every emulator. RetroArch is easiest. For N64, expect to set custom layouts for FPS games.

🗂️ Pre-Configured Bezels & Save Files (MS-DOS Ready):

  • Copy the “internal” folder from “Install Instructions & Extra Media” into your Nvidia Shield
  • Use network transfer: Press WIN+R → type shield → press Enter
  • Paste folders into the Shield’s internal RetroArch path
  • RetroArch/saves is required for DOSBox-Pure auto-start save files
  • The HatariB core should also be placed in RetroArch/downloads

🆕 Adding Content Manually

To add games or systems manually:

  • Place ROMs in the relevant system folders
  • Add an XML entry in the database folder with correct filename
  • Place video previews in the video folder (filename.mp4)
  • Place themes in the Themes folder (filename.zip)
  • Wheel art in Image/wheel (filename.png)
  • Box art and cart art in Artwork3 and Artwork4 respectively (PNG format)

Important: Filenames must match exactly (capitalisation, spelling, punctuation) or they won’t display or launch correctly.

  1. ok followed this step by step I am getting stuck at this part. “Copy the contents of the INTERNAL folder to the corresponding RetroArch folders on your Shield (best via Wi-Fi network).”

I am unable to access the location that retroarch is installed on the sheild.

I assume is it located here “/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.retroarch/files/”
however I am unable to acess that location.

    please advise.

    thnak you
