Manchesters New Gaming Bar – a hidden basement bar with a distinctly 1980s vibe – WE LOVE IT!
The dark and intimate bar, called 17 Below, has quietly opened and is like a trip back to an old fashioned gaming arcade. There’s a bank of playable retro video games, famous characters like Pac-Man in neon on the walls, plenty of funky pink pool tables, and classic leather booth seating.
All the arcade games are free to play, and the American pool tables can be booked for 30 or 60 minute sessions – for £7.50 for half an hour, or £10 for a full hour.
When it comes to the drinks though, this playful place isn’t messing around – The owners have developed a unique set of cocktails for the bar and put some hefty Norwegian ales on tap, all the cocktails are £8.50 and include the Arcade Cowboy (a mix of gin, peppermint, and white chocolate), the Bounty Hunter (Overproof with mango, and topped with coconut dust), the Pucker Man (Limoncello with bitters and a pear drop), and the Jumpman (Monkey Shoulder whisky, coffee and caramel).
