QBert meets Centipede

The Replicade Mini Centipede Arcade Machine 12″ tall arcade cabinet first started off as a kickstarter campaign, by the guys over at New Wave Toys, an officially licensed (from Atari) mini arcade cabinet with replica artwork, gameplay and design (literally a miniature version of the actual Centipede original cabinet!). The kickstarter campaign was launched on October 17th 2017 and the target was smashed within 25 hours! Only 5,000 of these units were made, and we have been lucky enough to have one here in the Arcade Punks offices with us for the day!

Everything about this mini cabinet is on point, the look, the weight, the size, and even the gameplay – yes you can actually play this cabinet and its not as difficult as you may first think, put on the desk in front of you and most average size humans are looking straight into the game play, if your a pro, a noob or a casual retro gamer, this makes no difference (unless your chasing those points!) – you can easily play this, roll that trackball and hit that fire button and take down the Centipede.

Standing 12″ tall, the cabinet has been sturdily constructed in wood and metal. It’s emblazoned with Centipede’s iconic artwork,taken directly from Atari’s in-house collection of original artwork and presented in brilliant high-resolution. Its the original Centipede Arcade Rom, simply press the left Coin Return/Free Play button to add credits or push the right Coin Return/Main Menu button to access the system menu.

Being the collectors that we are, we could see us buying the entire range from New Wave Toys, especially as they are limited edition (collectors items) – but at the moment this is the only one they do, with a Tempest version due soon and a promised Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition on the way too (see website for more info!)
