2900BoredGameDad got in touch recently to hare this awesome PC BATOCERA FULLY LOADED IMAGE with over 12,000 Games ready to play! Called “Super Clean” , after his previous Raspberry Pi 4 Build, this is an absolute crowd pleaser! The preview video below shows just how awesome this multi-platform build is.  This Arcade Punks exclusive, is the first (of many) PC Batocera Images we will share from many creators.

HOW TO INSTALL

You can use your .img writing tool to write this to a 1TB portable drive, USB Drive or SD Card and boot it from any PC.
Assuming you have a 1TB drive sitting around. Then you don’t have to worry about removing a drive from anything.
You’d just press F12 or whatever your BIOS uses and select the drive to boot from on bootup.

FROM THE AUTHOR:-

I often get asked if my Pi images work on PC, and while they do not, I think the time has come for a Super Clean PC image!

Every PC has different specs, so I can’t guarantee your hardware will run some of the more difficult to run systems like PS2 or GameCube perfectly. Also, it’s very difficult to trouble shoot installation issues on a PC. I’d recommend starting with the Batocera wiki if you run into trouble: https://wiki.batocera.org/install_batocera

Here are the specs for the PC this was built on: HP Elitedesk 705 G4 with a Ryzen 5 2400GE APU, 16GB 3200 MHz Crucial RAM (running at 2900Mhz since that’s the max this motherboard supports), and a 1TB Samsung NVME SSD. If your PC is better than that you can easily run everything included in this image, if your PC is less powerful, feel free to delete any systems you feel you can’t/won’t use to give yourself more space to add more things you’ll enjoy.

This image is running Batocera v35. This version has added LIGHT GUN SUPPORT! So if you have a Wii remote or light gun and want to enjoy Duck Hunt, House of the Dead, or any other light gun game the way they were intended to be enjoyed then this is the image for you! Here are details from the Batocera wiki on setting up light guns: https://wiki.batocera.org/emulators:lightgun_games

Once again, I’m running the CKAU Book theme on this image. This theme has a TON of customization options in the menu, and I encourage everyone to take a look. It’s essentially multiple themes in one!

As I always say, this is by no means meant to be the ultimate does-it-all build. This is intended to be a stable base for those looking for it, that you can add to or subtract from to your heart’s content. For example, there are no Amiga or Commodore 64 games on here, as I personally am a console gamer. But I did leave around 100GB of available space to make any additions that you’d like!

I used GParted to trim 5GBs from the image file once it was completed. Hopefully no one has any issues with the image fitting on their drive, but you can trim additional space of with GParted if you need to. Removing games from the image WILL NOT decrease the size of the image file, just the amount of available free space once it’s written.

I’ve done my best to hide additional discs for multi-disc games. My apologies is something snuck through. Batocera should auto-load the next disc for you, as well. I’ve also updated to the MAME .249 romset, so there are a lot of fanstatic games that were not included in my Pi builds.

I hope you all enjoy the build!

(WARNING: Many of the systems feature full romsets, which may include ADULT content. It’s possible that one of the scraped videos for these games can appear as the screensaver. You can disable the screensaver or just have it dim if need be.)

FIXES !

Be sure to grab the GameCube & Naomi fixes as well! The GameCube one fixes the M3U files and automatic disc switching for GC, and there is a Naomi folder that you will simply drop the contents of in your Naomi ROMs folder in the SHARE drive. It’s a single download of around 11GB found on the same page as the image. Going forward, if anything else is legitimately broken I’ll release additional fixes through Arcade Punks. Please keep in mind that if your PC is extremely old or slow you may have issues emulating newer systems like PS2, Wii, and GameCube. You can safely delete all of those ROMs from the system to free up room for older PC games for SCUMMVM, Amiga, or Commodore64 if you’d like.

  1. Thanks for this, can’t believe they recommend nzb as faster than torrent, currently have tried both and torrent is much much faster, at least initially x3 faster.
