Dropped into the server quite recently was this awesome vertical “Countercade compatible” image from Scoony, it looks fantastic and certainly stands out from some of the current vertical offerings, with full VGA (and Countercade) support.
NOTES
This is an upgraded version of the Scoony All Vertical image formatted for a countercade
What’s new:
-Added support for VGA monitors and Countercades
-Ability to Pishrink your image using mine. Instructions and software needed are included in the Pixel desktop in ES. You will need a mouse and keyboard for this… Background: I had issues using a virtual desktop as all of the tutorials I found were outdated. So I found a Youtube video that allowed me to shrink my image. I have made the process easier with step-by-step instructions
-All games fill up the entire screen
-Removed green notifications at the bottom of the screen telling you that your control has been configured before the start of every game amongst other annoying messages
-Image is about 37gb. So there’s plenty of room for adding music for the jukebox, themes, games, etc
-Every game was hand selected by me. The criteria was that the game had to play just as well vertically as it did originally. Every game has not been tested but most have
-Pinball, Shmup and Cave collections
-SSH info: pi / supreme2019
-On first boot you will see the Scoony logo and then a black screen. Wait a few minutes for it to load and if it does not reset your pi and it will load. The first load is a bit slow but is not bad after that
-ES controls have been reset. Your controller should auto recognize upon first boot. The only controller that is pre-configured is an Xbox1 controller
-There is no need to expand your sd card as you will see you have lots of extra space after first boot
-Jukebox:
Unfortunately I cannot get the jukebox to work with an arcade stick. It does work with an Xbox1 controller or any controller with an analog stick. Add MP3s to roms/jukebox/MP3 folder and go to audio settings in Options menu in ES to have have your MP3s added to the jukebox. If you only want to use an arcade stick, you can add your music, and play a random song by pressing whatever you have assigned for the X button
Buttons:
Y: Skip to next song
X: Add random song and play
B: Pause
A: Added current highlighted song to end of playlist
L: Volume down
R: Volume up
