Arcade Punks release time is here once again, and this time we are heading straight into JRPG territory with the brand new BooBooMan’s 35GB Base JRPG RetroBat Edition. After the huge response to BooBooMan’s earlier JRPG Batocera drop, it is now time for the RetroBat crowd to get involved. This new release brings the project over to RetroBat, giving users a lighter starting point before the larger add-on packs begin to roll out.
A Clean 35GB JRPG RetroBat Base Build
This release is designed as the base edition, coming in at around 35GB. Rather than forcing everyone to grab one massive build, BooBooMan has taken a more flexible route with this one.
The base pack is expected to cover systems up to Nintendo 64, making it a much easier starting point for anyone who wants a JRPG-focused RetroBat setup without jumping straight into the heavier modern systems.
For many users, this will be the perfect way to get started. You can grab the base, get everything running, then decide which larger systems and add-on packs you actually want to add later.
Add-On Packs Are Already in the Pipeworks
The Base Build includes all JRPGs up to the following systems:
- NES
- SNES
- Game Boy
- Game Boy Color
- Game Boy Advance
- Sega Master System
- Mega Drive / Genesis
- Game Gear
- PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16
- Neo Geo Pocket
- WonderSwan
- Nintendo 64
- PlayStation (PS1 support is provided as separate packs)
One of the big points with this release is that add-on packs are already planned. BooBooMan has mentioned that systems from PS1 and up will be handled as separate packs, meaning users can pick and choose what they want instead of downloading everything in one go.
This makes a lot of sense, especially when you start getting into larger systems such as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. These platforms can be much bigger in size and also require more powerful hardware, so not every user will want them as part of their main setup.
PS Vita was also mentioned as one of the final systems being worked on for the port, so JRPG fans should have plenty to look forward to as this RetroBat edition grows.
From Batocera to RetroBat
BooBooMan’s original JRPG Batocera work gave fans a huge role-playing focused collection to dive into, and this new RetroBat version continues that idea in a way that suits Windows users and RetroBat fans.
RetroBat has become a popular choice for those who want a clean front end experience on PC, with strong emulator support, controller-friendly navigation and a familiar console-style layout. Bringing a JRPG-focused project over to RetroBat gives players another way to enjoy these classic adventures without needing to stick to a single platform setup.
A Better Way to Build Your JRPG Collection
The smart thing about this release is the structure. Instead of making everyone download a huge all-in-one package, this 35GB base gives you the foundation first.
- 35GB base RetroBat edition
- JRPG-focused setup
- Systems up to N64 included in the base
- PS1 and newer systems planned as add-ons
- PS3 and Xbox 360 expected as larger optional packs
- PS Vita work also mentioned
- Designed for users who want to choose what they add
That means less wasted space, fewer unnecessary downloads and a much more sensible way to build out a JRPG collection depending on your own storage, hardware and personal taste.
Perfect for RetroBat Fans Who Love JRPGs
If you are into classic role-playing games, long campaigns, turn-based battles, fantasy worlds and those golden-era console RPG vibes, this is one to keep an eye on.
The BooBooMan 35GB Base JRPG RetroBat Edition gives Arcade Punks users a fresh starting point for a JRPG-heavy RetroBat setup, with more content already lined up behind it.
The base release is here, the add-on packs are in the pipeworks, and BooBooMan is bringing the JRPG goodness over to RetroBat.
Grab it now from Arcade Punks and keep an eye out for the next packs as they land.

Not exactly sure where I’m going wrong with this one but it just hangs on the chrono graphic screen where it says got to beat them all! And will not proceed any further.
