We love YOU and we love BYGDick!!! No sooner had we got into the HQ this morning and there is this INSANE fully loaded PC Light gun build waiting for us, promised to be plug n play with the AIMTRAK light guns and “possibly able to set up more” – So we extracted it and loaded it up and WOW!!!

So basically the build came in multiple parts, a base part and then a few add-ons, the build we got was the base with the add-ons built in and running (including the fix) so we are dropping this as a complete build right here on Arcade Punks!

Here is the authors original Read Me from the base builds and add-ons :-

Read Me-General
Tried to make this a plug & play for AimTrak guns (2 player as well). You may be able to use other types of light guns, but you would have to set them up yourselves. Sorry, but I only have AimTrak guns to test. The Front end is RetroFE and we modified the Ergo Proxy theme (thanks to the creator of the theme). See below for a quick summary and information of the build.
Front End Basic Controls:
Arrow keys for left and right
Enter to select
Backspace to return to previous menu
Esc to exit front end
If esc does not work, press Alt key plus F4 key at the same time.
Basic Game Menu controlls:
Coin 1: Keyboard 5
Coin 2: Keyboard 6
Player 1 Start: Keyboard 1 (sometimes trigger)
Player 2 Start: Keyboard 2 (sometimes trigger)
Service: Keyboard S
Test: Keyboard T
For MAME my guns are recognized as:
Player 1: aimtrak gun 1
Player 2: aimtrak gun 2
Change imputs: If you want to change anything press “Tab” during a game and you can change “general” (basic controls for all games) or “this machine” (for controls specific to this game).
For TeknoParrot my guns are recognized as:
Player 1: aimtrak gun #2
Player 2: aimtrak gun #3
You will have to set/map your TeknoParrot games to link to the roms executable. Youy can also set inputs (controls) within the TeknoParrot emulator found in (emulators/TeknoParrot/TeknoParrotUi.exe). Its actually pretty easy.
For the collection:
Games: I only used games that worked great for me (with some exceptions). There are system specific “Read Me” notes in this same folder. Trust me, I wanted to include everything, but just didnt have time to get everything to work. This is kind of my “ok well it plays good collection” and not a full collection. I used roms and emulators from other builds (CoinOps, CoreTypeR, RetroFE, My own stuff, ect.), so thanks all the teams and communities out there for games, emulators, front ends, and artwork.
I will be adding systems and games to this, and will post them as an add-on. Very easy extract to root folder and overwrite. This build would be perfect for a beginner to mess around with. Doesnt matter if you mess it up, can always download again or save a back up. Some meta data may be missing, but does not effect the game. I will try and add on the first add-on. Again, this is to get people playing and experiencing great gun games without much of a hassle and no cost. Hope you enjoy!

*If the Esc keyboard button does not work to exit a game, then press Alt key plus F4 key at the same time or some games you can exit through the actual game menu.*

1)Blue Estate – Use keyboard arrows for action buttons in the game.

2)House of the Dead Remake – Works great (even 2 player). On menu, make sure you select Co-op mode to play 2 player. If your guns do not work, during the game, press the F1 key. This will bring up the lightgun wizard menu and you can select your specific guns for player 1 and player 2.

1) Most games start with trigger or gun side buttons. If not, 1 key on keyboard to start and 5 key on keyboard for coin.

2) Ninja Assault – This game works but the aiming is off (the bullet does not hit near the crosshairs). For my gun, it hits up and to the right a good bit. Havent found how to calibrate this in the game yet. If you press F4 on keyboard it brings up a menu, but I cant figure out how to select anything.

These games work, but not great. Fun for nostalgia and a laugh but not very accurate as far as hit markers. Not your guns, this just doesnt seem emulated well.

Read Me-TeknoParrot-Game Issues

Note: You will have to go into the TeknoParrot emulator and set the games executable paths for your drive/location. Easy Google if your not sure how to do it. I set up controls for player 1 and player 2 with mu AimTrak guns. It may work right off the bat for your AimTrak guns, but if not, you will need to configure controls in the TeknoParrot emulator (also an easy Google if you do not know how to do it).

*You will see “CMD” show up in the game list. This is an exe file within the build thats needed to play the games. Could not find out how to hide it yet. Just ignore it.*

1)Friction-Constant cross hairs on screen. Could not find how to delete.

2)Dead Storm Pirates SP -Could not allocate buttons for turning (action). When playing 2 player, the cross hairs are a bit all over the place.

3)House of the dead scarlet dawn & TombRaider – Could not get games to work from the RetroFE front end. I think the emulators/TeknoParrot/UserProfiles/xml files may be wrong, but cant figure it out. They do launch and are playable (even 2 player) if you launch it through emulators/Teknoparrot/TeknoParrotUi.exe.

4)Lighthouse of the Dead – Sometimes launches behind the front end. Not sure how to allocate the turning or action button either.

5)Lost Land Adventures, Night Hunter, Sailor Zombie, HOTD3, Typing of the dead, wild west. – Works great in 1 player. Could not get 2 player to work correctly.
