256gb Batocera Raspberry Pi 5 Image from BooBooMan

To say we are currently blessed with Raspberry Pi 5 Fully Loaded Images, is an understatement, We’ve just had Wolfanoz drop a banger, and now BooBooMan himself drops an AMAZING Raspberry Pi 5 image, simply described as “my own beta 2 private build” , but I think you’ll agree its AWESOME that he has decided to share this with everyone!

We are LOVING the GC, Wii and MS-DOS (PC) content within this as well as Model 3, its safe to agree, this is a well loaded image with some decent alternatives to the usual builds!

Happy New Year!

I bring you the 2nd beta of my 256gb Batocera v39 BETA/Butterfly (test build 010124) Raspberry Pi Build

The Img was taken from a steam deck 256gb m.2 drive, a 512GB Drive/SD Card maybe required!

Batocera is set to auto extend the img on first boot if you are using a larger drive.

All systems have been tested and working *More Per game testing is needed*

Usual retro systems working.

Great result with Saturn (Using lr-beetle core) Much improved over the Rpi4.

PS1/X runs at 2x, 3x with some fps drops.

Dreamcast is great! (WinCE games Suffer some slowdowns – OC recommended)

Model3 working well (may need to drop the resolution for better results

GameCube and Wii, VERY HIT AND MISS! All games tested and best emulator selected.

A Mix of lr-dolphin/Standalone Dolphin used, Alongside with a mix of Vulkan/OGL.

Hopefully as more DEVS gets their hands on the board performance will improve.

Overclocking, this can be done within the main setting, I have left this at default but can easily be OC’ed.

My RPI5 runs at 2800 with no issues, using a Official Active Cooler and the New PSU.

Plans for the future:

Beta 3 – Feb, more testing completed and ROM Preening and using a Samsung evo 256GB Micro SD Card, This will save having to use a large card as they are cheap enough on Amazon.

Beta 4 – March, increase to a 512Gb img, again using a 512GB Samsung EVO card – Prioritising, Dreamcast/Saturn/PS1/NGC and Wii ROMS.

Remember this is described as a “BETA 2 Build” and of course Batocera Technically is also still in Beta, but this is one wholesome fully loaded image from a VERY talented image builder – we really do look forward to future releases, the Pi 5 is still in its infancy (see authors notes above) and there will be LOTS more to come, better and better!
