When something is proclaimed to be THE ULTIMATE – it needs to be able to fend off the others – and this 128gb image from 2EC certainly does not fail to impress! A converted Wolfanoz Arcade and Console image (remember that one?) and molested refried themeplus Attract Mode (not shown in video).
This is a 128gb retropie attract mode image for vertical arcades with a 4:3 or 5:4 aspect ratio monitor such as an arcade 1up. I took wolfanoz 128gb arcade and console image and convertred the refried theme and unified theme in attract mode to a vertical orientation. I did this by rotating and resizing all of the artwork within these themes so that it would have the best performance. I created custom bezels for each console and made lots of custom bezels for arcade games. I also have generic bezels for horizontal and vertcal arcade games, so that they can be played on a vertically oriented monitor; they are named Harcade and Varcade. This is an attract mode image so the first thing to do is to configure your controls in attract mode menu, make sure you configure a next filter button because I have favorites setup within the arcade and console menus. Second, go into retroarch located in the retropie settings menu and configure your controls there. Dont forget to setup your hotkeys in retroarch so that you can exit the emulator and also pause and bring up the settings menu as well. I rotated everything to the right, which worked on both of my arcade 1up machines. If your image is upside down, then that means it needs to be rotated left. If this happens, you can either physically rotate your monitor or wait for me to create another image with everything rotated left. This image is for a pi 3b+. I shrunk the image with pishrink, so after it first boots up, go into raspiconfig and then into advanced options and expand the image to fit your sd card. I made this image so that anyone with a vertical arcade cabinet could enjoy consoles and horizontal arcade games with an awesome interface. I hope everyone enjoys it!
On a side note: If you don’t like the refried theme for the arcades and consoles, you can change it to the unified systems theme, which will cover the consoles and arcades. I reformatted that theme as well. Just go into the attract mode menu and go to displays, and then select whatever console or arcade you would like to change. There, you will see the refried theme, and then you can change it to the unified sytems theme. You will have to do this for each console and arcade. You can get an idea of how the unified systems theme will look by checking out the collections; they are setup for the unified theme. If you change it and then want to change it back, you will need to change the consoles back to refried consoles and the arcades back to refried arcade. Also, for the vertical games, if you do not want bezels, just open retroarch while playing the game and go to onscreen overlays and turn display overlay off. Then, go to settings, then go into video and change the aspect ratio from custom to either 4:3 if you have a 4:3 monitor or 5:4 if you have a 5:4 monitor(Arcade 1up). Then, make sure to go into overrides and save it as save game overides. Do not save anything as save core overrides or save content overrides, or you will mess up that whole system. – 2EC
