2Girls1Pi got in touch again, with ANOTHER Raspberry Pi 5 offering, this time with the beta v39 Batocera as the base, and its a HUGE improvement on “their” (downloaded) 512gb Offering – Whilst there is a lack of Wii, PS2 and other “should-be-playable” systems, it is a fully crowded, fully loaded image, there’s not much in here that you haven’t already seen in a Pi 4 image, and there are way too many systems for us to test, but you’ll see in the video below we did check out some Naomi /2 , GameCube and Wii and more!

Again its looking like the 2Girls1Pi team have purchased this from some dodgy image seller on the internet, and to be honest, like the last offering I would be demanding a refund instantly if I had to pay for it, firstly its important to note that Raspberry Pi 5 Retro Gaming Images are still a way off being perfect, that’s because various emulators, front ends and more need to be updated and out of Beta (including Batocera!) , and because the people who create the images need to see which games require which settings in the (unfinished) emulators, however just like in the early days of every generation of Pi, this is a notably usable image.

There were a couple of games we couldn’t exit back to the menu using our hot keys, but seemed to work after reconfiguring the controller, so give that a try once you got it set up!

Check out our new “Tester ratings” system in the sidebar (to your right, or below if your on mobile!) and you’ll see the amount of time we spent testing the image, the score we give from our “first look” (aka Quick look!) and which method of download we used, the media we used and the writing method we used.

This image boasts 140+ emulated systems/collections and almost 23,000 ROMs (including all the classics E-swat, secret of Mana, Sonic, GTA and many more!)

Once again a dedicated FORUM AREA has been set up for this image HERE, and its worth joining in the conversation for fixes, issues and error reporting!
